A lot of those panels are available. The rest can be fabbed relatively easy. I just gave my Vanagon the full seam rust replacement.WillyModeratorJanuary 23, 2020 at 1:37 pmPost count: 1058
Yeah, and luckily it looks like a lot of it could be just patched and treated. I talked to Marco from Buslab on the phone. He told me that pretty much the front cab panels are the only thing thats the same, the back half of the cab to the rear bumper is mostly different. I thought I’d be able to get the driver’s rocker panel from a regular vanagon, but I guess not.
Mike, did you buy any new panels for yours? If so, from where?
I’d like to get a beefier suspension and other adventure rig gear for this eventually and make a slick bed rack, but rust kinda has to be priority #1.
most asked about and photo’d bus in our group this year.. it is pretty awesome!!!!
EVERYONE LOOK! John Jones said a Vanagon was awesome!MikeKParticipantJanuary 23, 2020 at 3:48 pmPost count: 232
I bought the rear fenders and lower tail sections from Bus Depot. It was all Klokkerholm stuff. I removed and repaired the rocker then fabricated the section above it up to the swage. The areas above the seam at the rear fenders can be made on a brake and welded in. The good thing about repairing Vanagons is that the metal is thick, 18G. Many of the panel you can remove, repair and reinstall.MikeKParticipantJanuary 23, 2020 at 3:51 pmPost count: 232
This is my photo album of the Van. It should give you some ideas for email@example.comParticipantFebruary 9, 2020 at 10:12 amPost count: 1
Love the Doka. The headlight washers. Can I ask how they are activated? Are they connected to the regular windshield washers and always come on at the same time or is it activated by pushing forward on the washer control similar to how a Vanagon with a rear windshield washer is activated.

I’m pretty sure they come on when the headlights are on and then you use the windshield washers, but I never really use the washers at night so…WillyModeratorJune 25, 2020 at 11:57 amPost count: 1058
Not too much going on with this one, just minor stuff here and there. Using it a lot. I’m not sure if I did this with a tree branch or if some Boulderite didn’t like the diesel and drew on it with their key, either way it sucks… probably the least of my problems with the body though.WillyModeratorJune 25, 2020 at 12:00 pmPost count: 1058
Still trying to track down metal for this thing. I’ve had people point me towards a few sources but still don’t have anything in hand. I guess there are lots of small differences in panels between a vanagon and doka.
It’s always fun getting to see your own car on the road, right?
I also was trying to find some history on this thing and came across these pictures of it in Ontario. The plate on the front would definitely explain the dents in the nose and the air horns correlate to some caulking on the roof.
I really wish this guys shades were still in the truck… the whole outfit just screams, “yeah, I fuck.”John JonesKeymasterJune 25, 2020 at 2:45 pmPost count: 6423

Thanks JJ, I think I’m gonna fish with that car on Samba before it gets the Bring a Trailer treatment.
Franz, do you guys have any kind of relationship with Burley after doing the Ultimate Syncro? I’d like to get their trailing arms for this but they want you to send in your cores first and can’t really decommission it in our driveway right now, so I was wondering if they might send you a set before cores. Or maybe a Parkway Project swap?
