So you went and did it, you cut the whole side off. lol Nice work man!

I have the same covers in my bus. I used the horse hair pads but I should have put some batting material around the back and side tubes.

It’s a another damn mini Type 2. These things seem to follow me home.  It’s a 1961 single cab.  Got it from a guy who has owned it since the early 1990’s.  I will eventually make a thread on it when I get a chance to work on it in the coming months and make some progress.

In the meantime keep cranking on your adult sized truck so I have some inspiration

I’m trying! Should have some more work done this weekend. Need to fix the drivers wheel well splash panel thing and try to get this tar type stuff off the inside of the treasure chest that someone thought was a good idea to smear everywhere.

You learned to do a good job with the metal, and I’m sure you can learn how to spray primer.  I started with just water in the gun and practiced, then primer and paint is almost the same thing.

Nothing is perfect, just has to be ‘better than before.’  Keep’er going eh?!

how do you practice with water? do you spray on something that lets the water soak in so you can see your overlaps?

Be careful welding the side and supports on. Go slow, jump around and cool the welds.

took a heat gun to this tar mess in my fuel tank area. … i guess at some point someone thought it would be a good idea to stick some sort of tar backed plastic stuff under the tank and it just trapped water and debris in the ribs of the treasure chest floor where they didn’t stick the tar down good enough…. what a mess…. i have some floor sections coming to hopefully fix all this…. not going to be perfect but it will be better than this!!! i’m thinking a karosene solution will get rid of the rest of the tar
