I like that bus, standard semaphore bus with the best color combination in my book. Only thing missing is a sunroof, (SGPG sunroof is my all time favorite bus). Saw your ads on the Samba for both a 356 and a bus, and thought you should just ditch the 356 idea and pony up on this bus, or wait for the ultimate bus and have $$,$$$s ready when it pops up.
With that being said there are a few concerning details on that bus I would check out before pulling the trigger. That roof is pretty beat up. The nose drivers door and dog leg and the rear are obviously three different colors. The nose also looks as if paint is pealing or filler is coming out. I would want to see a lot more pictures.
After that if you are satisfied and the owner is willing to ship, do it, or if you are hesitant pay a reputable source in Canada to check it out, or head up to the Great White North eh and party on!
Just my two cents, you can take it or flush it down the toilet where it probably belongs.
Good luck!PeteParticipantMarch 2, 2018 at 5:31 amPost count: 560
Are they still asking $37,500 for it? Josh mentioned a lot of valid issues. On the plus side it does have a lot of desirable stuff with it, like the 6 leg middle seat. If you want an “early” bus your seats aren’t going to come cheap, and chances are if it has the seats it won’t be in your budget (sort of like this one, though it seems within reach of your top end). Maybe throw out a cash offer of much less than asking price ($30k) and see where it goes?Pat KKeymasterMarch 2, 2018 at 5:38 amPost count: 534

Above your price range but had to share:
Available now from Holy Grail Garage is this rare August of 1958 Mango Green and Seagull Grey Standard Microbus that left the Volkswagen factory with pressed bumpers. The first approximately 10,000 Buses built during 1959 model year production came with pressed bumpers. Not many of these, as you could imagine, and I’m certain that many of you have never seen one before this one! $39,500. Thanks! #volkswagen #splitbus #pressedbumper #1959 #mango #mangobus #standardmicrobus #ogpaint #stockheightsalright #36hp #1192cc #6popouts #holygrailgarage

For all the guys that tell me “hey man, please let me know when something cool, early, solid, and original paint comes up! I’m serious and have cash waiting!” Well, here is your heads up! This rock solid and rare August 1958 production Mango Green and Seagull Grey Standard Microbus was one of the first approximately 10,000 Buses made during 1959 Model year production so it came from the factory with pressed bumpers. Only a handful of these neat transitional Buses are known to still exist today. This one is dry, straight, has all 3 original Caramel seats including a near mint middle seat, the Caramel interior panels, a 36hp, fresh Firestone bias plies, factory 6 popouts with long spoon latches, and the roof rack is not included. Priced at $39,500, more pics and details coming soon so get permission from your lady and cash in your aluminum cans! Don’t be late because it’s a lot of cool and honest Bus for a very fair price! Thanks! #comingsoon #holygrailgarage

$40k for a bus that’s stupid..what the fuck makes it worth $40k? Not a motha fucking thing…just you and some other dumbass thinks it’s worth it… $1500 new, $40k now used..you can’t do anything with that pile, but drive 43 mph and worry about every other dickface on the street…vw prices are a joke.
