Thought I’d start a thread about camping trips/ opportunities to camp in Utah! Since there is so much to do here.

Utah Swing VW Campoutย March 30 โ€“ April 1

First trip I’m posting about is a campout in the San Rafael Swell area. Its about 45 min south of Price, UT. Jason is organizing the event. He says:

“Time to get those VW’s out of hibernation and get together to enjoy the warmer weather and go camping!

Destination is the San Rafael Swell. This beautiful country has amazing formations, rock art on the canyon walls, and the wedge overlooking the San Rafael River as it flows through the “Little Grand Canyon”.

The road into the Swell is a graded gravel road.

Exact camping details and directions to come.

If you can’t make this trip, plan on the upcoming summer camp out.”

I too love this place and spend a lot of time in the area climbing and camping. I was telling JJ and Gretchen that it was barely not picked to be a National Park. So it has the amazing views and way less people, the best part. If any of you non-Utah folk can make it we would love to have you! More details about exact location to come.

There’s a motorcycle rip there called “Five Miles of Hell”. Always wanted to do it on one of my dirt bikes. But I got to old.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

Come and bring your motorcycle! I was going to do the same. Bring one in the bed of the dc.

I will maybe climb a little bit franz. Might as well when weโ€™re so close.

Would be cool to Rally bajas out there too! Set up a course one day and rally around the desert!

Perfect place to catch some rays and start to get used to being a bionic man!

I am excited for this campout over Easter weekend, we will be going in a couple weeks to find a good group site that we can all make it to. Once I have that information I will update it here with details. Hopefully winter holds off now that it has decided to show up for the season.

Anyone have any recommendations for the area for drives or activities?

Jason and I are heading down on Saturday to look for some good group sites. I have ideas…. I’m down there all the time. Just need to see what makes sense. Ill try to take some photos to show how beautiful it is!

Breathtaking scenery. Imagine that not being a National Park. What an oversight that would have been.

Jason and I went down to the swell today to look for campsites with buses in mind. Found a few potential spots! So beautiful down there. Awesome 60 degree day to hang out in the desert. Since this is all BLM land there is no reserving any of these campsites, so we will just have to roll with the punches when we drive down there and see what is available. We also planned out a couple drives and looked at a few “sites” to see. Like the petroglyph panel and the dinosaur footprint. Lots of open road to drive fast and take in the sun! Going to be an awesome weekend. All the roads we saw were in good condition and not super dusty. Will make for some good cruises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

    Next Friday!

How is the weather looking? Low temp?

Planning to driving the baja out. I can’t decide if I want to spend Friday night or just make a day trip.
