The tubes and boots for the intake arrived yesterday. Check out those “intercooler tubes”. The muffler is stainless 2.5″ Magnaflow 3 chamber xl….offered as a performance part for chevy duramax diesel truck.
Pat got a custom hose made for the Subaru power steering pump to vanagon. The picture kind of sucks, but you can see the pump is mounted backwards and acts as the tensioner, custom mount made by boxeer.FranzKeymasterJanuary 13, 2018 at 8:42 amPost count: 3460
Did some heli-arc welding on the thermostat housing/flange. This is much better than a rubber hose that can kink or get damaged. We had the intake flanges cut at a local water-jet shop. Looking forward to welding up next week.John JonesKeymasterJanuary 16, 2018 at 9:04 amPost count: 6439

This mo fugger chugger is way to complicated. Should be a beast when it is done.John JonesKeymasterJanuary 17, 2018 at 6:13 amPost count: 6439
Peet and Franz are widdling away at it…. They seem less than enthused about it.. No more Subi conversions, no more Vanagons.. Period. At least not while I own the machine 😉 😉 😉 😉
Bubba… Your POS lottery motor is junk.. no more vanagons, not even for friends.FranzKeymasterJanuary 17, 2018 at 8:25 amPost count: 3460
Pat got the billet sump installed. I made a couple more parts. Excited and frustrated. A lot of little things to this. Greg Blachon – Boxeer did not explain very well that this was going to be a re-engineer everything type of deal. I mean, the engine has been stripped to a long block and every fitting/connection/wire modified. I hope we can help others with the info provided here.

??? good work guys. How’ the hair holding upFranzKeymasterJanuary 18, 2018 at 4:43 pmPost count: 3460
I welded in intake temp housing and finished the charge pipe this morning. Looks good. I’m happy
I moved onto muffler fitment this afternoon. I had to shorten it a hair to make it fit the space correctly. Fully welded with flange and tip. I need to build some sort of support bracket to prevent it from rattling/breaking loose.BBWBParticipantJanuary 18, 2018 at 5:21 pmPost count: 815

I fab’d the muffler bracket today. Made out of 1/4″ steel, it should be solid. Attached with two large t-bolt clamps.ColeBModeratorJanuary 22, 2018 at 9:25 amPost count: 1517
I like it all tucked up like that. Looking good. Hope that welding has been fun!FranzKeymasterJanuary 22, 2018 at 2:25 pmPost count: 3460
Been working on the air filter situation. Trying to come up with something clean.
Decided to go with this r2c filter. Supposed to be good for dirt. No oil for the dirt to stick to. I’m going to make a mount/shield for it to bolt into the corner where the cool air will feed it.
