My Grandpa used to say us Bradburn’s had bad luck when things would go wrong(which they often do). But he would also say, if we didn’t have bad luck we wouldn’t have any luck at all! Hahaha super funny. Excited to keep breaking this rig in. Just crossed 1000 miles since I left KCW last week👍🏼

Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
Keeps getting better and better! Leaving st George now. This big bitch started this morning with no heat! At about 34 degrees. Below freezing must be when it won’t start without some extra heat

Where’s tonight’s stop guys?
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
I’ve been on the phone with Cole Today.
They broke in Vegas. Turbo oil feed hard line cracked, Cole got it fixed with a new line, then the turbo stopped working. Not sure if its a vane/carbon issue or what? We’ll see. Its on its way back to Colorado.
Man! That sucks!

Morning started out great! Got on the road early and the van drove so well! We felt unstoppable! Almost to Vegas and I saw some smoke, pulled over and saw some oil dripping out near the turbo. Finally located a crack in the inlet hard oil line. Took me a while, but I patched it by cutting the line completely and then slid some fuel line over it. Went to All Hose in north Vegas and got a new one made with some stainless braided cable. Fit awesome and they were super nice.
We were back! So psyched. We filled up on gas and everything felt aweosme. We pulled down the on-ramp back onto I-15 and I lost all power and we started spitting black smoke like I didn’t have enough air. I could hear the turbo whistling, but still no power. So I took the intake boot off and turned the motor on and couldn’t see the intake side of the turbo spinning…. so I turned it off and spun it with a wrench to try and break it loose and sprayed a small bit of wd40 in there. Started it again and it spun for about 30 sec and then it made a big thud and the intake side stopped spinning…. so weird. We got dropped at some relatives of mine and hitched a ride with them to San Diego for my brothers wedding. I’ll get a trailer and go pick it up on Sunday or Monday.
That look on your face says it all Cole. FUCK!!!!
We will build it if it comes.
So i know this engine is round 2 but are these new crate engines? Lottery? Rebuilt?
I suspect the cracked oil line starved the turbo of correct oil pressure, and cooked the bearings. Doesn’t take long.
I was always pretty anal about warming up and cooling down the turbo in my Passat TDI. They would fail pretty regular from what I’m told.

I think all the motors came out of running cars.. Not new.. Low mile… This sucks… Sorry Cole… Should have just taken the BBOE.. The cheapest bus you have access to, is the best road tripper in the fleet.. 😎
It’s just working out the “bugs” right.. 😎
