Dam that does suck. Too deep to just pull out, but at the same time, when is enough??

Yeah gearing and such i think was built around the diesel low end torque. Hard to replicate with gas enginesWillyModeratorFebruary 17, 2019 at 1:17 pmPost count: 967
Cut your losses and go with an ALH? 🤭John JonesKeymasterFebruary 18, 2019 at 2:42 pmPost count: 5910

It seems like Subaru stopped producing and supporting the ee20 engine.
It doesn’t make much sense to a potential Subaru buyer to pay for an optional engine that has troublesome design flaws.
We were running a proprietary stand-alone ecu that didn’t have the computerized glow plug circuit or intake air heater. Plus, I’m hearing the ee20 engine has a tendency to blow head gaskets due high combustion pressures.
The parts for this engine are not available world-wide…and supplies are already drying-up.Baja MarkParticipantMarch 17, 2019 at 1:39 pmPost count: 373
Surely one of the VW PD TDI engines would make a lot more sense – bulletproof and bucketfuls of torque, esp when remapped – my old PD130 Golf was an awesome vehicle – 80k in 4 years and never missed a beat, plus 53mpg+ColeBModeratorMarch 17, 2019 at 9:07 pmPost count: 1384
Ya, very hard decision… KB and I are in love with the ee20. But with the issues we have had and the basically 0 parts ANYWHERE in the world it’s hard to continue with the ee20. KB is bummed, but he just wants to be able to use the ultimate vanagon. I think this will be better in the long run. Just a really hard way to learnJohn JonesKeymasterMarch 18, 2019 at 7:28 amPost count: 5910
I’m glad it’s not here….. and hope it stays away! 😎
