Hahah awesome! We are about to leave my parents house! Gonna be there between 7 and 8. Emilee got stuck at work a bit longer than she thought so we’re a bit late to take off. Excited to see this rig again! See you all soon

Cruises the highway and then hit some trails. Got the AC all hooked up and everything seems happy. Final stuff now. Like find the grill….. finish the rear rack, fix the alternator idiot light and hook up the tachometer

Alright people, first trip in this rig will be down to Baja in December. Were going to pick up some surf boards in San Diego, and we’ve got two-three weeks! Any and all recommendations and tips for the road trip would be appreciated. (Surfing spots, free camping, tacos, etc…)

I think the Vanagon has a hella short list of things to do now… 😎   It was almost ready to be driven home, but not quite…   I’d rather it leave when Franz feels it is 100%…  Other wise, it will be right back over here… 😎

I’m glad to see Emilee planning a trip already!!!  awesome!!!  This rig is big and built!!!!  I’m ready to see a whole new set of awesome memories be made in this rig!!!!!   😎

Thanks for the awesome weekend! I always really enjoy time at KCW. Super fun. I’m glad I was able to get my hands on this rig a bit before it came home. I definitely have a better understanding of it all now! 👍🏼👍🏼 Going to be ultimate!

Ah, the Baja surf trip?   It’s been a solid 15 years since my last surf adventure in Baja/ferry to mainland and south. I’m not sure what your surfing ability is but central Baja has some solid winter surf. There are some solid point breaks .

punta canoas- high cliffs offer solid wind protection so keep the peaks glassy longer I to the day

punta maria- long wrapping right point needs some serious westerly swell but when combined with winter      offshore winds you can get some solid barrels.

el Cardon and punta lobos –  sandy bottom  smallest waves on list but the dunes offer great protection so allows for cleaner waves in afternoon winds (probably best beginner spot on list)

punta santa rosalillita solid little fishing town great surf. When I was there they discussed building breakwaters and building marinas. Not sure if they completed the project or what it did to surf

    camping in baja-

There at no private beaches in Mexico!!!   You can can drive out to any of them and camp. There are hotels and developments that will try to run you off but you can honestly pick any road drive to the water set up camp and enjoy……..

bring a fishing rod eat out of the ocean

a big enough cooler to grab supplies from town so you can do multiple days chilling at the beach.

ballenas aka whales are a cheap way to drink beers after a long session.

the sun can get you in Baja if you have a big enough tent to shade the ride great. Other places you find palappas already built bring hammocks. Siestas are key to beat the afternoon sun. If you have other questions I can pull my journals out of storage…. enjoy the trip.  Just writing this brings back some solid memories of the winter I spent chasing waves.

Nice recovery!! Just like JJ says, it’s all how you handle the situation. All that stress and headache wasn’t worth it, you fixed it and back in action.
