Already planning a trip to Mexico with Cole for Christmas break to break this thing in, who’s coming? Bubba? Surfing? Tacos? ‘Rona’s?
Thanks for the invite but Im headed back down early Nov for a few weeks and prob couldn’t do Xmas trip. Where are you guys going ?
We need some recommendations. We’ll have to meet up and get some of your Baja camping tips. Thinking about a surf trip!!
🌞 baywindows are the shit 🌞
I built a new hoop that is about 2″ lower to accommodate the ee20 subaru engine. Then the stock syncro skid plate bars bolted up. I will reinforce them with aluminum plate. I have also been worried about the variable vane turbo actuator hanging out in the open. I built a face mask for it.
Stianless steel for engine mud deflectors and exhaust heat shield fabrication next week.
It is going to be built like a tank! Se cool. Any skid plates for the AUX or propane tank? Or not really a worry?
They are mounted a few inches higher than the critcal bits.
I think they are safe enough for now. We can always weld some shit together later.
If I can find a locker light wire harness, I should be able to finish fab and assembly this week. Right now the dash is all apart for the 3 switch panel.
I’m going to call around this morning to see if I can locate the wire harness.
Pricey, but is what you need possibly in this rat’s nest? I think the listing says it includes the dash wiring.
Franz about has it handled!!!!!! the skid plate is impressive under this rig… rock slider!!!!! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Yeah. I made a template for the last piece of skid plate yesterday. I had to have the metal shop cut it for me on their massive shear. Ours will not cut 1/4″
So I moved on to stainless engine shields. The injector connections seemed vulnerable without them. I made one for each side. One more piece to make for the muffler/turbo to shield the engine and timing cover from heat.
Super slick! This thing is like a rocket ship!
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Welded everything up real nice. Shooting paint on parts tomorrow.
Finished 18ga stainless exhaust heat shield.
Got the on-board compressor today. We’ll have to think about mounting location.
Burley was able to help with the locker indicator light harness. That is the last piece of the puzzle I think.
Was thinking maybe on the bottom shelf of the back cabinet? Would have to access with the rear hatch open. But I don’t know if that is a problem… let me know what you think
Chris is going to blast all that skid gaurd steel and shit for paint today!!!! 😎
Ultimate vanagon is about to be mechanically done!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
