Man, gonna be awesome! Are you telling me I will be able to drive in the summer with a tshirt on?? We drove it back from Squamish BC two summers ago and I had my shirt off most of the drive because of the heat. At least I got to work on my tan a bit hahhaa ??
I like the idea of the stool to hold the cabinet up, I will have to remember that. That makes it a lot easier than holding up while on my back trying to undo it, I couldn’t find anything to fit in that area. Will it be ready for the campout?
I hope this rig is done in the next few weeks.. please LORD!!! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
What an epic, Ive not been around much lately and it seems to be a world of stuff going on at KCW. The first time you tackle anything it takes longer and is always way more challenging, let alone developing stuff that you thought should have already been done, not easy.
Well done guys for sticking at it.
Only a matter of time and effort and it will be done
and parts
and stress
and maybe some blood, loud music, bad language
take away pizza
head scratching
etc etc….
Yeah its been tough. Peet gets angry everytime I say Greg’s name. Haha
I think we are on the final push. The engine wire harness is the last major thing that needs to be done. We had a modified unit from Greg, but it was the stock Subaru harness with all of emission connections intact, but not used. With a big taped-up bundle where it was modified to connect the stand-alone ECU. It looked like garbage. Plus, it didn’t have the wires to run the oil temp, oil pressure, or exhaust gas temp to the ECU for the bluetooth gauge display.
I had to ordered all of the senders and EGT amplifier to make the gauges work. Now that is sorted progress can resume.
That’s gonna be quite the cockpit with a big old ipad HUD!
Engine out. Done with mock-up.
Next Item is engine bay clean-up/finalization. Then we can play for reals.
Wiring is sorted. Pat is building away. We have a 40 pin connector on order to make engine install/removal a breeze(though I hope it never comes out). I’m about to build a server rack for the ecu and injector driver to mount nicely in the cabinet adjacent to the engine.
Electric spaghetti?
great progress to be done with the dry assembly.
Looks like it could take off to mars! Nice work guys.
this rig is closer than ever… Peet got the wiring and shit all sorted and figured out… he ordered a cannon plug so it will be on one plug to pull the engine. This has been quite the project!!! and I am pretty sure, we will forever shy away from Vanagon’s now…. I sent one tucking his tail the other day… 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
More vanagon progress. New smooth firewall welded in. No extra holes and perfect fit to the crazy engine layout.
ECU and injector driver rack.
that computer mount is pretty sweet… Looks like a min tilt.. 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
I think this rig is going to drive this month… Maybe we can take it to MOAB!!!!!!!!! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Aweosme! Maybe a test drive to Moab? Then back to kcw for more tweaks. Would be awesome to see it out in the desert again! You guys are killing it! That thing is going to be badass
