Both carbs had bad bearings, which is why I had the throttle shafts out. I ordered new ones yesterday.DarioParticipantAugust 29, 2019 at 4:57 pmPost count: 455

Working late tonight to finish.
I am so happy…This engine is badass. The best vintage look 1914cc I can do. All original tin of various years, most importantly 61-62 stale air heater boxes… I also like that the fan shroud has the recess for the stock air filter to let you know that its original. Super time consuming engine build. 80+ hours on tin fit, paint, and assembly. The stale air heater boxes work best on a 1914cc because of the head-to-head width..I suppose a 2276cc could be done with some pain in the ass butt weld extending.
I’m waiting on the throttle shaft bearings to run. That’s it.BodgocoParticipantAugust 30, 2019 at 11:17 pmPost count: 54
Seriously can we get a poster of this with the KCW logo! I want to put it on the wall. Engine art.PeteParticipantAugust 31, 2019 at 6:29 amPost count: 812
You’ve killed it once again, Franz! Super nice engine!FranzKeymasterAugust 31, 2019 at 6:47 amPost count: 3071
Hey Pete, where did you get those air filter spacers for the dellorto carbs? I totally forgot about that issue with the fuel fitting interference.PeteParticipantAugust 31, 2019 at 7:00 amPost count: 812
Vintage Speed makes them, sold as Dellorto spacers in their filter line. I think they do sell them separately from the filters.PeteParticipantAugust 31, 2019 at 7:51 amPost count: 812
Or maybe Andy could use a gasket as a template and cut some out of 1/8” aluminum on his CNC? Probably won’t save money but might get them quicker.John JonesKeymasterAugust 31, 2019 at 8:42 amPost count: 5910
This might be the most massaged badd ass motor Franz has done!!! Great Job dude!!! It looks awesome!!!!!
I am sooo glad it’s about done….. sooooooo glad…. 😎 😎FranzKeymasterAugust 31, 2019 at 4:35 pmPost count: 3071FranzKeymasterAugust 31, 2019 at 4:41 pmPost count: 3071
Thinking last night that the idle mixture adjustment screws are going to be almost impossible to access with these OEM recessed style. Looks like CB performance has the cool hex head ones. Tom you should probably order 4 of these 7285 before the engine goes into the car:
And get 4 of these velocity stacks 7223 while you’re at it. Thanks.
Fuel inlet to air filter issue.PeteParticipantAugust 31, 2019 at 6:01 pmPost count: 812
Not yet on the breather; probably Monday/Tues. I did install an 010 in place of the 019…seems to be a much better advance curve for the 36’er.
Yeah, mounting plates would work, or stack/glue some fiber gaskets. It’s not like you need a whole bunch of space. If you order from VS they typically mail quickly, just might take a week+ from Taiwan.
^Those idle mix screws are great. Super easy to dial in with a 8mm ratcheting wrench.unkParticipantAugust 31, 2019 at 6:43 pmPost count: 377

Got the bearings for the throttle shaft, assembled carbs. and ran the engine today.
I also made a bad choice and wasted 4 hours drilling and welding 1″ tube through the empi sump. Just two tubes. For style points.
Good to go. No leaks + tuned.PeteParticipantSeptember 4, 2019 at 5:18 amPost count: 812
That’s a VERY nice engine. Killed it with all the details once again!
