It’s educational spending time in the clean shop around Franz. I feel lucky to be a part time clean shopper.
We will build it if it comes.unkParticipantApril 11, 2019 at 8:02 amPost count: 377
Hey Franz…….I’ve been thinking about it. That black top sucks and I really want this to be top shelf. Rip it off. Order the 1889SF Berry/Blac from chucks. Let’s hope this one works. I will send you guys a check for the new top material. Keep cranking and thanks a lot. Get those chrome pieces you need too.unkParticipantApril 11, 2019 at 4:29 pmPost count: 377
Sweet. Details coming together. Thanks.FranzKeymasterApril 11, 2019 at 9:14 pmPost count: 3081
Installing and figuring all kinds of stuff out. Took the glove box lock to the locksmith to get keys made. Should have the dash together tomorrow.
Original dome head screws on the color matched (early vert correct paint) inspection covers.
Original 4 tab emblem with all the tabs intact. One small tiny chinger…I think it’s acceptable considering.RustabusParticipantApril 12, 2019 at 7:20 amPost count: 1759

I sent some cash for the new top today. I put a few more bucks in there for chrome pieces and beer.John JonesKeymasterApril 12, 2019 at 8:28 amPost count: 5910

that wasn’t necessary.. but thank you either way… The day Doug opened the package with that top in it.. he looked at it and said it wasn’t “pulled right”w when it was sewn…. and I imagine he’s right… Not a big deal.. Well order a new one. shit happens.. Could have been a bad sewing day at the factory!!! 😎 😎
Looks great to see a hood on it… The steering wheel with the tag on it is pretty awesome too… 😎 Going to be a bad ass rig.. 😎FranzKeymasterApril 12, 2019 at 8:42 pmPost count: 3081
Messed up everything up that I touched today.
Was ready to install the glove box lock, but took the cylinder out to check orientation….and a bunch of brass pins fell out. They are tiny. I’m going to have to have the locksmith assemble it again on Monday.FranzKeymasterApril 13, 2019 at 7:12 amPost count: 3081
Dang it! There are corresponding pins and springs in the barrel too.
I had to file the door to fit the locking button and drill holes to Install the accessory pull.FranzKeymasterApril 13, 2019 at 7:25 amPost count: 3081
The horn went together and on the car.FranzKeymasterApril 13, 2019 at 2:20 pmPost count: 3081
I 2nd coated the inside of the glove box because it looked bad IDK if you could tell from prior pics.
I had a Motorola big M radio set aside, never did find anybody to convert/rebuild it to bluetooth. Figure that is something for later.

Looking good! That is going to be a sick RHD VertrussParticipantApril 14, 2019 at 5:29 pmPost count: 73
i doubt you want to send the radio to Canada but i had a local guy do my big M way back 10-15 years ago i’d say
no bluetooth then but changed it to am/fm with iPod hookup , i’m sure blue tooth would not be an issue
i remember him taking a bit of time to do it and he was local to me but here is his website if interestedFranzKeymasterApril 15, 2019 at 7:48 pmPost count: 3081
The locksmith was able to re-assemble the lock. I installed….but found out via samba research that convertible also had a different metal tab welded to the dash for the longer latch to grab on. Because the RHD dash clip was not convertible it needs modified. Project for tomorrow morning.
These are special special early vert aluminum door hinge grease zerks. One was broken off durring disassembly…I was able to make a special stud that I will JB weld to the zerk…I don’t have any other good ideas here…TIG welding would surely melt the whole piece.
Cleaned up the funky accessory mirror that came with the car. A couple pits, but whatever.unkParticipantApril 16, 2019 at 6:02 amPost count: 377
Thanks for everything u guys are doing. Really nice to see this coming together.PeteParticipantApril 16, 2019 at 6:24 amPost count: 813
Another option on the radio; Rich Langenwalter rebuilt my Sapphire I, adding an FM board and MP3 hookup. Don’t know if he does Bluetooth but you can always ask. He’s also in Lakewood, Colorado.
