Use the Hurst shifter with the thicker nylon bushing. Mui bueno!

Or.. there’s a guy on Samba that makes a metal plate to reenforce the Hurst shifters with the thin nylon bushing. The thin bushing will break on you at the worst possible time! …2nd gear in the middle of a big ass intersection.

Do you have to make a speedo tube? 57-65 uses the sheathed cable.

Cip1 sells the RHD speedo cables. Good quality.

Is it a earlier version of the shifter? The type that polishes through to copper? I just contacted Bruce for one of the shifter plates.

Here’s the block on my shifter base.  It’s been rebuilt and the block looked new, so I have no idea if this would have been a reproduction of what was originally there but it’s definitely the thicker style.

Franz, Not sure if they’ll polish through to copper..? I believe Hurst sold the copper shifters you sometimes see, as “copper”.

Pete, the later production shifters were made with the thicker blocks. Yours is good to go, rebuilt with a new thick block. Doesn’t need any reenforcement.

Sooo RHD pedal bushings are different than the LHD kit they sell….I’ll have to make custom on the lathe. I ordered some brass from mcmaster that I can cut down.

We did recieve the accelerator shaft and roller pedal yesterday. I finalized a bunch of brake stuff, and started bending/flaring a bus long brake line to route on the left side of the tunnel then jump over to the RHD master cylinder at the front. Pan is nearing 100%.

FABROCATION….. 😎   This project presents a few extra challenges from the standard oval build.. Or Vert build!

The semi’s look so good… I was a bit worried about their fit, but they look awesome!  😎  WISCONSIN is on my Radar!

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

Thanks, KCW.    Don’t feel any rush to get this done by snow time (which is sometimes October).

oval build – piece of cake

vert build – a bit of a PIA.

oval, vert, RHD =  not quite a synchro, subi build but might rank up there.

    thanks, guys.

From cut  in half to now, is nothing short of amazing!

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.

They came copper plated. They don’t polish through to copper?

Pics from the camera…  we’re down to one shop camera..  I should go buy one… 8-(  I have bought soooo many camera’s in 17 years of doing what I do;..8-)

Franz is dragging this project along for us…  Not like dragging his feet, but like this car isn’t a cooperative HO… 😎  the pedal bushings were shot… so Franz had to make some…   This is why Franz is putting this car together..

Nice work Franz. It’s the little details like that most people would say, “good enough” and sent it down the road
