Fabricated RHD speedo tube. I was lucky enough to locate a split window speedo tube to rob the brackets from….they are the same as oval rhd except for the angle of the bend on the base.
See the bordeaux red paint on the split speedo tube? Thats an original paint part from John’s bagged split rag circa 2005.
Just for fun; these are all the generations of steel speedo tubes.
The green blue and red tubes on the far end are 58-59. See how the base is threaded? The middle two are slightly longer/different bends, these are 53-56 oval window. Notice the square nuts on the base?VwfoolParticipantAugust 16, 2018 at 9:25 pmPost count: 287

awesome stuff, Franz. Can’t thank you enough…….
Also, the RHD wiper assembly looks great. Hopefully, those little things are saving you some time since they seemed pretty restored already. The headlight buckets and semas hopefully will go in (went in) with little heart-ache.FranzKeymasterAugust 17, 2018 at 8:33 amPost count: 3461

a few little pieces to paint….. freshly blasted….. step by step…unkParticipantAugust 21, 2018 at 3:42 pmPost count: 385
Thanks John. Probably most of those tidbits should be Shetland Gray. I would think getting the hood latch and hood release zinc-coated would be good. (To make it look original).
Up to ur judgement tho. Thanks a lot.
Did u get Pete’s engine sent back so it can go in my vert??? Haha. That engine is awesome. Take care. Nice job.FranzKeymasterAugust 21, 2018 at 6:13 pmPost count: 3461
Inspection covers are usually black…but I do know convertibles had some things under the hood painted over/all at once. Do think they were body color originally?
The hood mech and striker on early cars gets painted in black sealer. Those big shaft hood strikers are hard to find!
Sorry for the lack of progress this week. I should be able to get back at it soon.omr_007ParticipantAugust 21, 2018 at 8:17 pmPost count: 11
