Audrey sent your handles to Gab yesterday. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 When I return from the Dunes…. Your back to the top😎😎😎. I guess I should get that middle seat all fixed up😎😎😎😎😎🎉🎉🎉🎉. I’ll paint the steering box first thing and round up all the front end parts to give to Franz for assy!!👍🏻👍🏻 He’s the best at that stuff👍🏻👍🏻
What a sick bus! I am soooo glad we found an original door for this pass side 👍🏻 This rig has consumed some serious time over the years.. I can’t wait to see it done ✅

Yep. The transaxle is finished. It needed a bunch of parts…the old core was in pretty rough shape. We were only able to re-use 3rd gear. It has an original German 4.12 ring and pinion with 0.88 4th gear now. Being a strait axle conversion, it should get down the highway at 70mph or so.
Diff preloaded .010”, and shimmed pinion depth to get a good contact pattern.
Throw some axle tubes on and it’s ready for Jones whenever he is.Tom HoareParticipantMay 27, 2023 at 11:43 amPost count: 100
There it is! There’s the goods we need!
That’s a big notch toward done now.
Wait!John JonesModeratorMay 29, 2023 at 5:11 amPost count: 13384
Awesome! Thanks for the update Franz!!! It’s soo cool to see the insides of the trans and a post from a trans builder..!! 😎 I wish I could have gotten Painters grinding on here about 15 years ago… 😎 I bet you have the trans builds down now!!! 😎 and the tools to do it right.
I’m gonna paint the steering box this morning. Also round up everything I can find for the front end so you can assemble it.. I can’t find the main steering shaft.. Is there a possibility you remember where you put it? or maybe have it in your box or something? 😎 Silver beige? 😎

Yes, silver beige on the steering box column, it should match the steering wheel and turn signal switch. Black knee knocker. Does Tom have a good horn button?
Did you find Tom a nice thin-lip parcel tray? We don’t want you to waste time welding and bondo’ing that rusty one.
The steering shaft is probably with the beam parts, or between the garage doors, or maybe behind your solvent tank…The small parts & hardware are in a paint cup under the lid of the parts washer.WAY2COOLParticipantJune 1, 2023 at 4:49 pmPost count: 506
