Β Iβll paint the steering box first thing and round up all the front end parts to give to Franz for assy!!ππ»ππ» Β Heβs the best at that stuffππ»ππ»
What a sick bus! Β I am soooo glad we found an original door for this pass side ππ» Β This rig has consumed some serious time over the years.. Β I canβt wait to see it done β
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Nice! Β Ok, did Audrey send all keyed items to Gab including the ignition? ππππ=πππΌ
Can’t wait to see it done also!

Yep. The transaxle is finished. It needed a bunch of partsβ¦the old core was in pretty rough shape. We were only able to re-use 3rd gear. It has an original German 4.12 ring and pinion with 0.88 4th gear now. Β Being a strait axle conversion, it should get down the highway at 70mph or so.
Diff preloaded .010β, and shimmed pinion depth to get a good contact pattern.
Throw some axle tubes on and itβs ready for Jones whenever he is.There it is! There’s the goods we need!
That’s a big notch toward done now.
Can.
Not.
Wait!
Oh Hell Yeah!!!!!ππππππππ
Awesome!Β Thanks for the update Franz!!!Β It’s soo cool to see the insides of the trans and a post from a trans builder..!!Β πΒ I wish I could have gotten Painters grinding on here about 15 years ago…Β πΒ I bet you have the trans builds down now!!! πΒ and the tools to do it right.
I’m gonna paint the steering box this morning.Β Also round up everything I can find for the front end so you can assemble it..Β I can’t find the main steering shaft..Β Is there a possibility you remember where you put it? or maybe have it in your box or something?Β πΒ Silver beige? π
Proud and Stubborn ππ»
Yes, silver beige on the steering box column, it should match the steering wheel and turn signal switch. Black knee knocker. Does Tom have a good horn button?
Did you find Tom a nice thin-lip parcel tray? We donβt want you to waste time welding and bondoβing that rusty one.
The steering shaft is probably with the beam parts, or between the garage doors, or maybe behind your solvent tankβ¦The small parts & hardware are in a paint cup under the lid of the parts washer.
G’day Franz
