Andy have you done a Subaru swap in an automatic bus, using the bus automatic trans?
Tim
I haven’t done an automatic bus. I’ve done an automatic type 3. Going to start another one here in a few weeks too. It’s the same adapter I use in the type 3 that they use in a bus.
Any reports back how that autostick is holding up the MASSIVE subi power? Has anyone you’ve swapped had trans problems after you converted them to the wet and wild side?
We will build it if it comes.

I should have clarified that it’s a 1976 automatic bus. Would the trans be different in bolting up to the subi engine? It is IRS and type4.
Tim
Ive only done manuals and full autos. No Autosuck.
Tim I don’t see any differences. If a type 4 can bolt up, a subi can with the adapter.
Pat, no reported issues from normal use. I know 1 dumbass who has blown up a few manual transaxles..but he’s also burning out all the time. all depends on how you drive it, beat on it and you’ll pay the price.
Autostick and Subaru = A match made in heaven 🙂 the best of both worlds 🙂 🙂 🙂
Automatic Subaru swap!?! Sounds like you should just get a modern car… or go electric 😉
Electric? What am I gay? 😎😎😎 (I’ve seen your bros post, very cool)
Hahaha whatever it takes to keep them on the road for the next 50 years
We worked on this 58 356 for a few days this past week..
almost down to the bare bones.
getting a radiator upfront, subi in the back, irs suspension, coil overs..full build!
I’ll try to upload some pictures in a few when I go to town..
Gonna loose the bumpers, brakes, original transaxle, repop wheels and motor.
