Man this bus is so cool…I need a damn bus ?
I sanded that Pop top yesterday before I called it a day…. She’s ready for some Fresh white paint! I see Pat got some panels installed inside and I heard the Motor is already done!!!!!!! wow, that was fast!!! I do love Painters Grinding!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
9 days left.. and many many many hours..
Knockin shit out!!!!!😎. One project at a time👍🏻
I f0rgot.. Doug got your front seats mostly done yesterday!

Thanks for the pics. I know that it can be a PIA to post these but I really appreciate seeing the progress. FYI…..Pat and Franz, the bus will have liability insurance on it for your MOAB trip. You should be all set on that front. Cant wait to see it all buffed and shiny…..
One question…….are those the original door panels up front? Or was that originally wood? Just curious. No need to swap out or anything…….
The panels in the cab are nicely patina’d original grey panel boards. They have some janky hardware store pulls…but whatever. I think they add to the originality of the bus. Pat wanted to cut wood.
The engine arrived back. 9 days with shipping turn-around. AND I had them do some other stuff. Painter’s rocks!
Driver’s seat base was bent from leaning back too hard. Remember this bus has hacked bulkheads. The very end of the seat frame bent down. I straitened the tube, then added gussets to prevent it from happening again. Doug is supposed to come back tonight to cover.
Peet installed some panels and started on mechanicals yesterday.
I painted top and fridge glass yesterday.
I think these backrest supports are the key to determining when/where/who put in the so34 parts. Notice they are galvanized? Somebody spent a fair amount of time grinding on bar stock to make these. Then had them plated. Also the pins have a u.s. patent number and manufacture on them. I looked it up. One of the listed uses was for aircraft. Hmmmmm Makes me think a u.s. military guy did the interior swap at a base in Germany.
u.s. patent for d.w. price ball lok pin
These are the screws that attach the support bars. 3/8″ head, brass locknuts, and holes for safety wire…more aircraft stuff?
That sounds about right Franz. I love the way your mind works it’s awesome. Ur one resourceful dude with like 2 brains and the mojo to back it up!! Drove the bus to work this morning it was fun and got a few honks to hurry up returned by the middle finger and a few peace signs. Bus ran great. I was going 60 just not fast enough for some but 60 is a good solid speed in a bus that’s too heavy and older than I am!!
It’s all coming together boys and girls… (I have to say that now that we have two VJJ’s on here now…) I don’t see any problem with this rig being ready next thursday for a trip to roosters…. Then Moab on Friday! 😎 😎 woohooo… cold beer, tents, poopers…. moab, camping, busses, all my buddies…. Going to be Epic in Moab. 😉 Tom… You sure you don’t wanna fly out for this? 😉

its my 26th wedding anniversary next week and also the height of whitetail rut in Wisconsin. I ain’t going anywhere. Have a beer for me and take some good pics!!!
Gas heater bench test. It needed service.
The unit has a few sets of electrical contacts “points” that needed cleaned, along with the spark plug and glow plug. I found the fuel regulator leaking too. Probably a dry O-ring or something. I’ll have a look tomorrow. Stoked to get it working!
