I have wanted an orange Ghia for a while. I was going to build one to match the 11.90. I found this one on The Samba in December. I did an “everything but paint” resto. It was very complete and original. It has had one respray. The odometer shows 52K and I believe that is correct. Engine was complete. I did have it restored to 1970 specs. The correct distributor was sourced along with all the shroud flaps and a new thermostat. We did a little engine bay and spare tire well repair. I got a new interior kit from Sewfine and installed it. I told him to choose the carpet color and surprise me. He did. I used crash wrap as my vapor barrier on the doors. That’s the way to go! I installed dropped spindles, Porsche pattern rotors and drums and a set of wheels that I had in the garage. Then I had it aligned. All the brakes are on point as well as the shift rod. I have a Vintage Speed shifter on the way this week. I installed new tan retractable seat belts and a Vintage Speed roof rack. I put new front and rear window seals in along with most of the body gaskets. It was missing a few pieces of side chrome that I had from earlier projects so I replaced those. Then Steve and I buffed it all out and called it done. The original radio still works. The door buzzer still works. The dome light still works. The rear defroster still works. Essentially everything still works. This will be a daily cruiser. Here’s the pics! Pete took one from his Ghia Saturday!

It’s a sweet Ghia.  That interior looks great in photos and even better in person.

Your next project should be a west wing to your garage though.  Is this VW #10?

    Who’s counting?

No more garage! I need less cars!

Great looking car Scott! I always enjoy your choice of mods. You build straight up, nice looking, legit, and drivable  cars sir.

Thank you! This one is fun. I have enjoyed tinkering on it for the past few months. It’s nearly finished.

Yesterday I rubbed it down with some Nu Finish. The bottle says it’s guaranteed for 52 weeks. We’ll see!

What is the story with the red car? For sale?

Yeah, I tried that Nu Finish stuff. Held up about a week under the Colorado summer sun. I expect if the car stays in  the garage and covered up it might  last 52 weeks.

That car is right in your wheelhouse; it’s red over Turkis.  Don’t you like to corner the market on that combo?  🙂

It could be. 1961. New pans. 40 horse that runs. I haven’t had a chance to start it but I will soon. I paid $2500 for it. You can have it for that.
