7mm petcock arrived yesterday. I’m going to sandblast the gas tank and get it ready for paint today. Then I’m going to switch gears and work on putting the race car back together. No rear bumper on early barndoors…so you get full view of the a1 sidewinder. I also located 4 original 14mm head apron bolts.
Love all the details.. Franz doesn’t miss a thing… He’s the best in my opinion… 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Franz is killing it!
ya, orange lens is a euro lens. It will do until we can source a red US spec one.
kb pulled out some of the cool info we got from the previous owners. As you know they were very meticulous. Cool og brochure and birth certificate. Been talking with Patrick Hall because this truck is close in production to the deluxe he just pulled out of Canada. I think this truck was maybe on that first Canadian vw shipment with that deluxe. The shipment was nov 52 and this truck was finished the month prior. Pretty cool history! Going to keep talking to Patrick to find out more!
Do you have a date on the picture Cole?
That would be insane if its the same truck.
Is that $1595 for a complete vehicle? I’ll take five please!
We will build it if it comes.
I think it’s the same truck… that’s the first and only dealership at the time in Canada. And I’m assuming they only brought one sc over to that dealer on the first shipment. Got confirmation from Patrick that our sc is the oldest bus vin on that first Canada shipment. Pretty cool.
Any word on the lever shocks? Also, have you seen the MarkL package? Just trying to see when this will be finished so I can come grab it! Psyched
Yeah the package arrived. No word on the lever shocks. I’ll call and find out.
According to my tracking number those lever shocks were delivered on the 23rd of dec, might be worth calling and seeing what’s up franz
happy new year
I’m trying to plan a time to come fly out and drive this to KB’s. Any time that is better for you guys?
also, are there interior panels with the truck? It would’ve had door and kick panels correct? Just no roof panel?
We’ll see how it goes Cole. This is a tough project. I would guess end of the month. Working on it today.
Cool. Psyched to come down and pick it up. Will be good to hang for a couple days. Let me know what you’re thinking and I will book flights!
The gas tank is a truck only item. Notice the outlet location is closer to rocker for petcock access.
I spread a bunch of JB weld on rust pits like bondo. It’s more resistant to fuel.
Such a cool truck.. soooo many special items… Big Man Early shit!! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
