Back on this one today. Spun and milled a e-brake cable pivot pin that was missing.
Had to make a pair of e-brake cable extenders to make the small nut non-split trans e-brake cables work. All bolt in now, no mods required when cables need replacing.
Franz installed the late model beetle dual master cylinder were running and bent up the last couple hard lines as well.
We will build it if it comes.JeremyParticipantDecember 2, 2019 at 8:50 pmPost count: 79
Nice work on the E-brake pivot. Lathes and mills are cool tools. I like puttering on shit like that.FranzKeymasterDecember 4, 2019 at 11:09 amPost count: 2982
Running into a few missing parts.
Lever shocks. Do you guys know anybody who may have spares? We can get them rebuilt at Apple Hydralics in NY. Eveything for sale on samba is in Europe.
Heater knob is a special piece. Kai has one listed on samba. Should we get it?FranzKeymasterDecember 4, 2019 at 12:52 pmPost count: 2982
I have some late 52 -early 53 zwitter lower shock mounts. We could make 1/4” plate uppers to adapt telescoping shocks?JbParticipantDecember 4, 2019 at 9:35 pmPost count: 547
I think Johnny has some crusty lever shocks for saleFranzKeymasterDecember 5, 2019 at 8:40 amPost count: 2982
Yeah. We need them. I’ll get a hold of Johnny.
How about the heater knob? If I don’t hear from you guys this morning, I’m going to buy the one Kai has.Pat KKeymasterDecember 5, 2019 at 11:42 amPost count: 1134
Working on the seat base this morning. Replacing/fixing broken springs.
All of the wire supports that tie the spring together were broken.
This pile of bits should be 24 spring supports.
Started on new ones. Four down twenty to go.
Fourteen bends to make each one.
We will build it if it comes.russParticipantDecember 5, 2019 at 12:48 pmPost count: 73

^^^ Thank you Sr.
Hammered in the last little bend on these. Fabrication done.
I will get this back together tomorrow and pass it to Doug for upholstery.
We will build it if it comes.RustabusParticipantDecember 5, 2019 at 8:28 pmPost count: 1726

Dude.. that seat… That was insane tedious crazy time consuming work.. Pat had blisters on both hands!!! But damn he fucking nailed that seat frame.. it is primo now.. 😎 I can’t think of a more worthy seat to spend some time on… The oldest truck on the planet’s seat…. 😎 😎
Sound like we have lever shocks on the way, but they will have to come here, then head straight to New York to be rebuilt… He also bought a correct heater knob from Germany I think…. Split window beetle style… 😎
So I don’t see any test drives in the near future…. 8-(
