Do work Rusty!
What do you mean clunky? Motor? Chassis? steering?
Re- index the torsions to jack up the ass end? I have the tool if you need it.FranzKeymasterJanuary 23, 2019 at 8:43 amPost count: 1958
I thought you and JJ had this rig dialed?
Baja bugs have a hard life. They get thrashed and minimally maintained.
Case in point: You are more concerned with the roof rack, than the things that make it drive nice. 🙂mtnbusParticipantJanuary 23, 2019 at 7:44 pmPost count: 512
Hahaha, the roof rack ! Im the same. First thing I did when the DD arrived home was put the rack on it. My friends were busting my balls…
I think it badass RustyRustabusParticipantJanuary 23, 2019 at 9:05 pmPost count: 1074
I’m gonna keep at it it til it’s nice!!! We cranked up the rear at KCW but it still sags, gotta go up more!! Also need bigger rear tires, torsion adjust, Clutch tube fix, some electric, tinkering……ColeBParticipantJanuary 23, 2019 at 9:17 pmPost count: 861
You need this rack Rusty! More solid for your motorized bicycles. I don’t know how he would’ve got his motorcycle up there… steep ramp I guessRustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 8:44 amPost count: 1074
Yeah!!! That could be the Gen2 version!!! Rack is a little rear heavy but it’s bolted to the body now 🙂 Better suspension and faster throttle/clutch response is needed. I’ve got soft brakes…….. kinda seems like I’m gonna build and rebuild this rig a few times til it’s a nice Baja 🙂 🙂 🙂 Makes me re-think “overpriced” $6000 Bajas that have everything sorted!!!!! 😉 I’ll get there!!!!!! 🙂FranzKeymasterJanuary 24, 2019 at 8:54 amPost count: 1958
You probably need to buy brand new rear torsion bars. Yours seemed a little soft. It will take a mile of pre-load to get the suspension height where you want it.RustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 9:00 amPost count: 1074
Like these??? Got em in a tranny deal a couple years back, will they work? Big ass torsion bars, crazy preload, bigger rear tires, Bilstein gas shocks= nice rear end?????????RustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 9:05 amPost count: 1074
Yeah! That’s math I can understand!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂FranzKeymasterJanuary 24, 2019 at 9:07 amPost count: 1958
Those are huge torsion bars. Probably won’t need much if any pre-load.RustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 9:08 amPost count: 1074
They were a “Dude, do you want these too?” Sort of thing! 🙂RustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 3:17 pmPost count: 1074
Thanks!!! Got a Baja Mark compliment!!!!!!!! 😉 😉 🙂 Cut my tunnel, bracket was broken just like they always are!!!! pullin out the welder!!! 🙂RustabusParticipantJanuary 24, 2019 at 4:20 pmPost count: 1074
Off the list!!! Not gonna post a pic of the slug weld I put on that bracket but seems like the clutch response is better!!! 😉 😉 🙂 Tires!! The Baja has a set of nice Blizzax tires all the same size, part of the stance problem 215 70 R15, wanna keep that size for the fronts and get some 235 75 R15’s for the rears????? Any input????
Also need rear shock advice!!! No more coil overs!!!! 🙂
Where are ya Mark??!?!? Quit buying early Rabbits and help a Brother out!!! 😉
