Yeah I can’t wait to get my drivers license! Then I’ll feel like the work I put in really paid off. I’ve really had fun building this and learning how to bodywork!
Nice ! Way to go you two !
Stoked to see this car soon. Looks amazing. Great color.
Riley, you’ve got two of the best teachers ! Your Dad and KCW !
I bought my first Vw when I was 16. A 1970 sunroof bug for $300. I drove it. Didn’t know how to do any work at all. hahaha.
Sold it for $600…..so thats when that startedGretchen JonesModeratorJuly 11, 2020 at 10:24 pmPost count: 1284

Knocking out the last of the metal repairs before we finish body working the shell.
Had to deal with four broken running board mount bolts. Managed to drill and tap three of the four. The one that didn’t tap out I slipped a bolt into, burned that sucker in, and called it good.
There were a bunch of bubbly spots in the drivers rocker. Poked at stuff, and opened up a shit ton of pin holes. Welded all that stuff up.
Thankfully the passenger side rocker area was in much better shape. This car must’ve been leaning to the left where it sat for years and collected moisture in that drivers side rocker.
We will build it if it comes.John JonesModeratorJuly 16, 2020 at 11:12 amPost count: 12198

We finished bodywork earlier this week and laid down some spray ploy.
Sunroof and the other small bits done as well.
The fender wells were pretty rough. We sanded them down good, then epoxy sealed, and used some left over truck bed liner we had, thanks Baja Mike, for the finished product.
We will build it if it comes.RustabusParticipantJuly 19, 2020 at 2:50 pmPost count: 2996
