Hey Pete I measured the air filter height @ 14 1/4″ ….Sounds like I need cut the springs down about 1″? Not sure if I can get that.PeteParticipantJuly 23, 2018 at 9:36 amPost count: 473

I guess if you can get 3/4″ to 1″ out of the long end that attaches to the decklid then I can try them. The lower spring attachment point on the firewall has four holes, and my current setup is on the 2nd from the bottom. Hopefully with the shortened spring I can use the top hole and get the whole unit up an inch. If not I’ll ditch the springs completely and just make a prop rod like the one on an earlier page in this thread.PeteParticipantJuly 23, 2018 at 9:41 amPost count: 473
Seriously. Where else could you get something like this done? It’s art.
True factual statement right there… ? Not many places, you can get a motor like that built… ? Franz is the king of detail!!!
I tried posting this earlier but messed it up….
…Franz has learned where there can be improvements to look and function of engines after building hundreds of them over the years, along with the skills to bring those visions to reality. I’m honored to be on the receiving end of one of his creations.PeteParticipantJuly 23, 2018 at 9:42 amPost count: 473PeteParticipantAugust 5, 2018 at 5:42 amPost count: 473
It’s here and even more stunning in person. Franz created a masterpiece!FranzKeymasterAugust 5, 2018 at 8:34 amPost count: 1537
Thank you Pete. I had fun putting that together …definitely was a challenge.
Did you install it into the car last night??
I forgot to tell you that the belt size is 13 x 910. I put a napa brand on there…but it looks like there is a contitech available if you’re worried about looking like a redneck. 🙂
I forgot to take the little spade terminal adapters off of the coil and oil press switch. Try not to use any spade terminals on the wiring.JdawgParticipantAugust 5, 2018 at 9:39 amPost count: 406
That was going to be my question too Franz…
IS IT IN YET???
Awesome motor Pete…that has to have been worth the wait!PeteParticipantAugust 5, 2018 at 2:59 pmPost count: 473
Haha….no, it’s not in yet. I just picked it up on Friday so it’s only been here a couple of days. It’s taken a pretty amazing amount of restraint to not stab it in.
I got a text on Wednesday from the guy replacing my engine bay center section telling me he has availability to do it in two weeks, so I didn’t want to put the motor in and have to pull it almost immediately.
I’m fine with the belt, but since I usually carry a spare I’ll check out the Conti. I did chuckle at the spade connectors…I figured they may have been from the run stand. No spade terminals here. I’m going to try and do a “Franz” quality job extending the harness and routing the wires, so I definitely don’t want to disappoint on the connectors.
It is definitely worth the wait. I go out to the garage and stare at it several times per day. 😁John JonesKeymasterAugust 6, 2018 at 12:43 pmPost count: 3190PeteParticipantAugust 7, 2018 at 6:49 amPost count: 473Scott SainParticipantAugust 7, 2018 at 8:02 amPost count: 119
Yes! Move the crown to the top of his Afro though.
