Assembled 2276cc short block and figured compression @ 8:1 with . 110” deck and 60cc heads. Fk8 cam advanced 4 degrees on strait cut gears.
Dark painted pushrod tubes don’t reflect heat back at the cylinders. 😉FranzKeymasterMay 13, 2020 at 8:12 amPost count: 3372
Good looking vintage speed engine of Erik Thompson’s. Okrasa engine with Porsche Zenith carbs. I modified the fan shroud and Porsche linkage for him last year. Going into a black oval window beetle.DarioParticipantMay 13, 2020 at 8:17 amPost count: 503Vwsarent4hippiesParticipantMay 13, 2020 at 9:01 amPost count: 108FranzKeymasterMay 13, 2020 at 9:27 amPost count: 3372

Erik’s done a nice job with the vision for his engine. I really like it.Pat KKeymasterMay 13, 2020 at 12:12 pmPost count: 1271
Parkway fun. Chopped out the pass bulkhead for a swivel seat addition.
Cut up some strap and and used 4-8mm bolts to make a seat base to swivel adaptor.Welded the adaptor to the base and touched up paint.
Bent up a piece of 3/4” tube and sheet metal for a b-pillar support.Touched up with some sweet Krylon.
We will build it if it comes.PeteParticipantMay 13, 2020 at 12:19 pmPost count: 862
Krylon….nice. Giving that Baywindow the respect it deserves.
Jokes aside you made clean work of that mod!Pat KKeymasterMay 14, 2020 at 11:38 amPost count: 1271
More late night parkway love for this little blue late model standard last night.
Pulled motor and replaced all trans/engine mounts.
Front shocks were incorrect, wrong length. New correct shocks installed. These bushing are always stuck.
Also pulled rear drums to free stuck adjusters. Adjusted all brakes, front wheel bearings, clutch. And a few other little thing along the way.
All back together, test driven and ready to go home!
We will build it if it comes.John JonesKeymasterMay 15, 2020 at 10:10 amPost count: 6339
I like parkway projects more now than ever…. quick in, quick out, quick pay… 😎Pat KKeymasterMay 27, 2020 at 8:26 amPost count: 1271
This bus showed up week or so ago. Pulled the motor out and sent it off much need rebuild.
Sand blasted all of the OG VW tin we like to use.
Always some cracks to take care of and a couple of extra holes to fill.
We will build it if it comes.RustabusParticipantMay 27, 2020 at 8:34 amPost count: 1845

Yeah, this one is from Montrose and is used for ski trips and stuff. Going to build a nice little stroker for it.Erik_TParticipantMay 28, 2020 at 10:50 amPost count: 9

Looks great installed! Do you think the zeniths are smoother running carbs? More power? Where did you get the manifolds?
I’ve only messed with WW solex copies once, they didn’t seem all that impressive.FranzKeymasterJune 1, 2020 at 7:14 pmPost count: 3372
Weston wenching on a 79 bay today. Oil cooler seals.PeteParticipantJune 2, 2020 at 7:14 amPost count: 862

He has the Stefi G manifolds….same guy that made the cast OT pulley on my engine. Check out his other ads…..he makes some killer (and expensive) stuff.Erik_TParticipantJune 3, 2020 at 3:31 pmPost count: 9

Thanks Franz! The Zenith NDIX’s are for sure an improvement over the WW “Solex” carbs. I’m really happy with them. Idle & power delivery is consistent & smooth. The Solex worked ok, but they weeped fuel from various locations. No fuel weeping from the Zenith, dry. I would say top end acceleration has improved. Linkage is working well too, accurate tuning. Engine also appears to be running cooler with new aluminum 356 oil cooler. We will see for sure as summer temps increase.
Fuel consumption has increased, because they just sound better 😀 .
Pete is right, manifolds are from Stefi G on The Samba. Trustworthy seller, who I’ve bought a few things from.
