Damn! That’s a BIG first post!!!!!! WoooHoooo Baja!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
BAJAMIKE! Thanks for trusting us with your project. I love building some wild shit.
JJ painted 60% gloss utec500 yesterday, and absolutely nailed it. Fender wells will get undercoated along with fender backsides next. Mike is worried about paint stars/chips from rocks hitting the backsides….because hes building a show car 😆
It’s a slippery slope once you put nice paint on something….
Fit and trimmed rear fiberglass yesterday. Made some mounting plates for the ‘39 Zephyr? tail lights Mike wants.
Got everything masked off and paint detailed front cage tubes yesterday evening.
Masked front tubes and under coated fender wells, rockers and panhead area today.
SHOW BAJA!!!!
We will build it if it comes.
Mikes Baja is looking awesome!!!! It’s ready for what ever is next! 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
What IS next??!!??! Goin shiny blue on the outside or keepin it satin Bkack??
Wouldn’t have painted it black if he wanted blue. 😉
We got it to the stage we originally agreed to…. Mike was going to take it home to assemble…but has since decided to keep trucking along here. I have some resto projects, and a race car to service this month..
Then maybe I can think about it….Hopefully, BajaMike has loads of work done by then, so that I can concentrate on finalizing.
Would be fun to take this to Moab for the car show/Ottinger weekend.
I think I’ve showed you Baird’s 58 ‘vert before…In for spring service. Found some worn Generator bearings. “graveley” sounding. Its the cool 58-59 thin slot type, so I am rebuilding.
Got lucky and was able to cheat the generator out without removing the engine.
58 skier plates and vintage ski rack are a nice combination.
58 Vert is Fire!!!!! Gotta kill that two tone and let it loose for from the 90’s !!! What an Awesome Rig!!!!
Wow, nice Vert,. 😳 congrat !
Baird’s generator went back together flawlessly with the help of the 58-59 workshop manual.
Repair and reuse!!!! Original is always best!!!! It’s easy to get VWs fixed at KCW.. we have all the parts, tools, knowledge, AND Franz works during the day, not after he gets home from his REAL job.. this is his REAL job. 8-). Know what I’m saying?
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
Doug was here working on Mikes headliner yesterday.
Gator baby!!!!
We will build it if it comes.
I like it!!!
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!
