Jdawg front and center. No joke about the oldmann not running very well. I just finished torquing heads, adjusting valve and running a compression test. The last picture has figures from the test. Looked good. I noticed some exhaust leaks. More tomorrow.

The decklid needs some welding around the spring mount. So that it’ll stay open.

Come on Rusty, its not THAT bad is it???

Really excited to get it more drivable. Honestly, from the day I bought it I always wanted to have KCW make it better but never thought I’d actually get it there. Of course the ultimate would be to have it completly redone but right now I’m more than happy that its parkway status.

Your car is sweet Justin.. It has the look for sure….   I think dialed in mechanicals will be make it perfect!!!!   And I assure you…. The boys in the clean shop… Will handle it…  When they get done…. You’ll be thinking about flying in and driving it home… 😉

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

I also wanted to interject how great it is to have someone really excited about something.. 😉   That shit is contagious… and…. The more excited the customers.. the more excited the builder is..  Thanks Justin. 😉

This thread has to be the best! All the build threads are great but to see the drive/walk in service at KCW shows the completeness of the business. It just lets you know KCW is about the VW community no matter the status of you or your VW. 😀

Excited is an understatement…Some guys dream about full restos and perfect show cars and I love that shit too…but…I’ve always dreamed of seeing my “normal dude” car at KCW for any kind of work…NO SHIT this is a dream come true. Thank you guys for doing what you do.

To add to this, if anyone is on the site and contemplating if they should bring their car to KCW…do it…It was a big feat for me to get my car there…the wife and I were shot by the time we rolled into town and JJ, Corporate, Franz, Pete and Dario made us feel like we were at home.

“The KCW experience” is more than just getting a VW tuned up.

I did my normal rounds on the engine, then went over and tidy’d up a few things.

    • nut-zert on the coil
    • re-routed a few wires and took off any plastic collars on connections
    • swapped faulty electronic ignition for points
    • increased idle jet to 55
    • measure/marked true TDC
    • adjusted advance base line and limit to 11-29 degrees
    • hooked-up and adjusted choke
    • removed the pre-heat flap from the air cleaner

Welded the spring brace back to the skin and touched up with some anthracite paint.
