Transaxle installed yesterday. New brakes too. All adjusted and filled with oil. Ready for service.
New motor mounts, new ground strap.
New cutch cable and pedal shaft clean + lube.
Painter’s disassembled the engine on Friday and said there was a bad head.65DlxParticipantSeptember 21, 2021 at 5:04 pmPost count: 30
Man that looks great! What an awesome job you’re doing on the bus. And glad Painters has the engine apart now. Hopefully not too much damage. Thanks KCW for the work on this deluxe.FranzModeratorSeptember 21, 2021 at 5:43 pmPost count: 4405
No problem Chip! Its been fun making your mechanicals tip-top. I went over all the bolts on the front suspension, tightened the link pins, re-packed the outer wheel bearings, lubed shift rod + brake rod, lubed beam/spindles and replaced the throttle linkage… It was held on the the backside of the pedal with that piece of wire for years. 🙂
Also, replaced the brake fluid w/new and bleed the system. Vent wing and safari latches fixed. Ready for the engine.FranzModeratorSeptember 27, 2021 at 8:39 amPost count: 4405

Assembling Chip’s new engine today.
Full-flow oil system so that we can run a filter, and a Gene Berg oil pump cover to prevent over-pressurizing the filter.FranzModeratorOctober 4, 2021 at 8:10 pmPost count: 4405
Power washed and scrubbed all the cooling tin clean this morning.
Then, modified the draft tube to be double barrel type. Clearanced pulley tin for oil line fitting. Welded some used thermostat flaps in the open position. And made some heat riser delete plates.
I just finish spraying some good utec500 urethane on the modified parts and touching up some of the old paint. Also painted the alternator pulley black like stock.
Assembly tomorrow.FranzModeratorOctober 5, 2021 at 10:56 pmPost count: 4405
Stacked tin and fitting the new exhaust flanges to heater boxes. Tacked and ready to weld on in the morning. Waiting on cb performance linkage kit. Hopefully tomorrow.FranzModeratorOctober 6, 2021 at 11:38 pmPost count: 4405
Cole, Bubba and I ran break-in on Chip’s engine tonight, not a drop of oil leaked. Ran perfectly. CB Performance carb linkage and welded exhaust flanges.FranzModeratorOctober 8, 2021 at 5:56 pmPost count: 4405
