Working on a survivor 65 Fontana grey beetle today. Broken clutch fork spring, slipping og clutch, rusted muffler, and a bunch of other stuff. I just finished power washing the former grease-ball transaxle for the second time.

Perfect zero dent original pan halfโ€™s on this one.

Installed new motor mounts, clutch fork spring, and input shaft seal. Noticed the bumper mounts were almost non-existent. Called the owner Eric and asked if he wanted to do them while the engine was out. He agreed. So I took the fenders off to prep for some dirty shop rust repair work. Next week.

Also ordered a new tar board kit. I accidentally damaged the original while I was power washing.

The original axle boots are holding. So I left them alone.

Cool to see that color on a car! Thatโ€™s what color my beetle originally was.

Working on a late red Baja today. Itโ€™s been sitting for two years. …Probably because the transaxle mounts are blown out.

This is why we donโ€™t like the red urethane mounts. A couple of the nuts were rubbing the flywheel too.

Yeah, itโ€™s kind of fun figuring out random problems. Good skill honing.

And I like that I can help keep our local scene rolling.

76 convertible not running due to fuel supply…. Because of a incorrect reading fuel gauge.

I found a mud dobber nest on the backside of the speedometer. The electrical connections became corroded, and made for more resistance in the circuit. Easy fix with a wire brush.

I did the full tune-up oil change too.

Woah. Iโ€™ve seen those nests on outside of cars but never inside on a speedo.
