Riley started stripping this on Sunday. He put in some more time in yesterday.35EF5EA6-51C4-4A49-B5BF-1745A7BA87752CD97064-8938-4E3F-9983-61DFAA4B73D5

I finished the major stripping this afternoon. Couple dozen holes to weld up. Then address the badly rusted spots. DD13ECE6-0002-4292-B187-A651E609D6B8B171F88A-96B3-4822-976A-60F1446B182D59C2FB54-70BC-4036-AA5C-4BF2301A340FC454A235-FD27-4FD0-B774-8B49BC15008F

We will build it if it comes.

Those don’t look like rust holes? Was there a mount for an awning?

Should I still come up today, or would I be in the way?

Right on..I should be there shortly.  I was on my way but apparently one of my probationers decided to leave Colorado and stab his dad in Bakersfield Ca.  I gotta write a warrant and ill be up…

Brandon’s moon unit in for a alternator conversion. We’ve slowly been fixing all the problems on this one.4EEE60B6-67A0-41E0-B0E1-45DAEEA5B8FCE9CD6032-018A-4BD6-B9BB-96CD738AE014FBE89143-0C9E-4885-A330-6B4E83D6F044

Susann’s 79 vert has been sitting in a shed for 5 years. The mice got in it. I cleaned it out, charged the battery, and changed the fuel. Ran great for about 2 miles until the rust in the gas tank plugged the fuel filter. We’re going to have to get a new tank for this one. It sounds like a rain stick.

Kim’s 71 super would run, but only for a minute. I determined it was a fuel supply problem due to an inop electric fuel pump. Running great now, but has the super beetle shimmies. We’re going to rebuild the front suspension next week, then I think she plans to sell it. Super clean and strait Colorado car.

Franz have you tried Evapo-Rust? I got it from Tractor Supply.
I’ve used it in a MC tank and worked great.

looks good, kind of like CRL?

A new tank is like $200 or less. If they have any flakes or nasty varnish at all, I will call it done. Not worth the effort.

Pat and I have been working on a Canadian 79 Sun bug vert. It was a nice car, we made it nicer. New suspension wheels and brakes…And a bunch of other stuff. Soon to ready for a new owner. 😉

I know what CLR is but haven’t used it. Yeah I get it on the effort to clean the tank. But it works.
This pic is the inside of an old XL100 tank cleaned with Evapo-Rust.
    Just for reference.
