Really like the direction this is going.

I’m going to paint it L345, light grey. I have leftover paint from my old panel that is at least 15 years old. It looks a little muddy but I think I can make it work. pueblo vintag bus

Thanks John.  I really dug that one too.

I’ve done a little more work on the Samba.  Pressed out the ball joints with this tool I made some years ago.  Still works great:

Installed a new swing lever kit.  I’m waiting on some ball joints then I can get it back together.

The decklid is pretty beat.  It has a big sway to it and the sides are really stretched out.  The center section is pretty good minus some holes and minor dents.

Removed the skin from the frame for repairs.

Both hinge mounts were cracked.  This one had been repaired and got worse.

The frame needs some work to make it lay flat against the skin.

Got the frame nice and straight, then sheared off the bad portions of the decklid after making some measurements.

A good way to fill larger holes is to weld a pulling pin to a piece of sheetmetal, trim it close to a circle the spin it in a drill against a grinder to make it the perfect size.  I’ll make a clean hole with a uni-bit, then TIG it in.

Got all the holes welded up, then bumped and metal finished it.

Cut the blanks for the sides and put some shape in them.IMG_4624

Some may find this interesting.  All Bay and earlier Buses have the same profile on the sides and the back.  I made this sweep years ago and it fits every Bus I’ve worked on, minus Vanagons.

The frame lies nice and flat now.
