It’s a nice change of pace. I’ve been so buried in 356 stuff that the Chevy seems like a walk in the park. The owner approached me about converting his 13 window into a Samba, then called me a week before about prioritizing this project. I hadn’t even seen it before he dropped it off. He’s very happy with the work and hopefully it opens the door to doing a wider variety of projects.
I focus only on metal repair so it’s all just steel to me. In fact, I recently changed the name of my business from Bulli Klinik to Auto Metal Restoration. I’ve been working on such a variety of projects that a name change seemed fitting.
I managed to repair the rust in the windshield perimeter and finish prepping the nose and cab for primer. Hoping to shoot some epoxy today if it warms up a bit.
nice work
what color are you going with ?
356 is big man rust repair complication…. 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫. And why I doubt anyone could talk me into that shit again👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Now I’d be like.., “I know this Mike guy in Co springs👍🏻😁😎”. I think I’ll be able to stay busy 😎😎😎😎
love the Quonset hut!!! I had one in Ok..😎

L347, Light Grey. Same color that my 59 Panel was painted. Satin white top with black wheels.
You gonna paint it too?

I don’t really do paint work with the exception of my own projects and smaller stuff, like scooters. I just don’t have the facilities to do it.
I don’t blame you passing in 356 stuff. They can be challenging. They’re all handmade and quality really varies from car to car. Lots of finessing and lead work to really dial in the gaps.
This 56 has really pushed my skill-set. I’ve had to fabricate some substantial parts like the complete engine compartment. This one was really bad, but I have an understanding customer who is good to work with.
Some highlights:
Wow.. wow.. and one more wow..
Nice work!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks man! Means a lot coming from you.
I’m on my second blocking of this thing. I forgot how much work it is to paint a Bus. It’s been days since of sanding, but it’s coming out really nice.
I also made some struts for this front rack I found at the flea market and mounted it up in the old Schwinn.
John, what grit do you like to use prior to final sealer coat. I’ve been blocking poly with 180.
