Killing it homies, bucket list dub for me….early DCs are rad!!!
Mike,, Were gonna have to cut the cargo floor out it’s so pin holy in the rear…. the inner rockers on both sides are right there to.. outers also.. Looking like a full on rust build now… 8-( anyway.. Pats here again cutting… 😎
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
I figured as much. I’ve seen that floor up close and in the gas compartment, it was pretty pockmarked and there were a few pin holes that I was aware of. It’ll be nice to have a solid new floor.
Looks like lower nose, front floor, 4 outriggers, 4 jack points, some top hat sections, 2 inner rockers, and rockers all he ay down both sides all pillars, and atleast 12″ up the pass B.. Pass dog leg, cargo floor, bulkhead, engine lid, gates….. Thats so far… 😎 Pats at it again early this morning!!! 😎

That’s quite a grocery list! It’s amazing how much was hiding.
One thing leads to another, going to be solid!

Done cutting out the junk. We decide the pass rear corner was too far gone from accident damage. Glad we did. You can see how noodled the inner d-pillar is. Batt tray was squished and rusty, rear fender well closing panel goes with the batt tray.
Forward bed section was last to go.
Thats the end of the carnige Mike. It only gets better from this point forward. Now to dissect off all the little bits.
We will build it if it comes.
At first, I was excited. The last couple days, I’ve been afraid to look at the site. Each hour the pile of German steel has grown, as have the openings in the side of my truck, as has the list for Columbian steel. I’m glad the cutting is nearing an end.
The condition of that d-piller explains a ton. The amount of filler back there, the ill-fitting engine hatch, and the unusable, pop riveted hatch-stay, to name a few.
I’m afraid to ask…Is the driver’s corner good? We know it’s off a later model, due the crappy, patched-up, larger tail light opening. Just want to make sure the corner profile is correct and matches what Gerson will send for the passenger side.
This is truck is going to be the newest 60-year-old German truck anyone has ever seen! I’m excited to see the rebuild.
Thanks for spending a good part of your day in that crawl space under the seat. When I cleaned it out previously, I spent a couple days in there…it’s not fun.
Chris and I threw sparks on this beauty all day. Top side leftover bits removed.
Rolled over. Well rub the little bits off the the bottom side tomorrow, then out to the blast booth. Funky green metal order coming up.
We will build it if it comes.
Yesterday the dirty shop was at MAX PRODUCTION… The factory was churrin it out!!!!!!!!!!!

All dissected and ready to head to the blast booth.
We will build it if it comes.
Looking good! Even the heater tube? I thought that was solid, then again I emptied about 5 lbs of dirt out of the heat wrap that was around the tube when I got the truck.

We should be good on the profile. Neither corner had been changed.
Someone hacked in later taillights at some point. Then someone welded those up and hacked the OG lights back in, just in the wrong spot.
Heat tube was not horrible, but that rear center section was hammered. Tube comes out with center sections. The front CS was not hammered but far from awesome, and there always full of dirt/rust, so we opted for fresh metal there also…. End product will be nicer with less time, material, and effort to get it there.
We will build it if it comes.
Green metal order submitted today! 😎
