Yeah probably a decent chance of that Rusty 🙃
Pat popped the head of today, then removed the valves. We didn’t see anything. Not sure what is up. Maybe we were hearing things!??
Was it more than just a light ticking?
Heart and I were just taking about how our Eddie motors make a very light ticking from time to time, on the 1/2 side I’m pretty sure.
I asked Ross about it a while ago and he said it’s “just a weird Volkswagen thing” 🤷🏼♀️
Exhaust leak? My VS flanges on the muffler were both a little bowed. Constant ticking sound.
Front end fully assembled with all the correct seals and stuff. Shimmed to zero camber. Ready for the disc brake kit on Monday.
OG grease zerk tie rods were in good shape and they are tough as nails, I like them. We take the time to fully service and repaint them.
The bbt link pin kit provided by Wolfsburg west came with king pin bushing. I needed to replace the uppers and turn the king pin undersize. All good, nice and tight now.
Front end looks so clean! Amazing work gentlemen.
Those disk brakes are gonna look nice on top of this great work.
Franz has that front end dialed in!!!! everything looks stellar!!! Pats rolling right along with your reduc’s… I’m thinking were gonna have it on the ground soon… !!! I guess well have to get them rims mounted up!!!
WTF with the motor… I was hoping you’d find a little something in there.. a washer or something…. ???????!!!!!!
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
Remind me what gear ratios you went with for this one?
Started on trans Saturday. Dug out parts. One bad gear in the redux box.
Someone had already located a replacement. All cleans up and ready to go in.
Bit more Sunday morning. New bearing through out for redux boxes.
Today. Looks like we’re chasing a gremlin on the motor noise. Tore down the 1/2 side all the way to the case. JJ and Franz looked everything over. Nothing out of place, everything looks fresh and new like it should.
Stacked for a very short run tomorrow with no shroud to see if it may have been a fan noise.
Pass side of trans sealed up to break backing plate. Driver side ready for assy. in the morning.
We will build it if it comes.
Being Texas (flat land) bound, we decided on 3.44 ring and pinion with beetle .089 fourth gear.
It should have tons of pull for interstate driving.
The Wagens West brakes are badass. Not heavy, fit perfectly, came with fag bearings, vent and cross drilled. Much good.
DC is coming together!!!! Wayner has those brakes and LOVES em….
Luck is when preparation and opportunity meet.👊
So excited. Brakes are looking money! The DC is literally getting closer to landing on the ground.
Bummer about having the motor half torn down. Does Painter’s run their long blocks on a stand before shipping it out? I’m assuming they didn’t hear anything when it left. I know you guys will chase away the gremlins!
