Wow.  I just spent the better part of the last three days pouring through this thread.  Incredible!  The attention to detail is stunning.

I think that’s such a cool touch!  You guys are such an important part of the history of the DC, I’m glad you did that.  I hope you think it’s cool also.

Looks so nice!  I wish I could get out the door today.  My old man is flying into Dallas (from Cali) right now, so that he can ride shotgun on the trip.  He and I will be on the road tomorrow, logging as many miles as reasonable.

Kendall and I just got back from glamour shots. Drives beautifully, no rattles or strange noises. It’s just like a brand new bus….Except way faster. We hit 70 mph. Should cruise nice on the Dallas interstates.

This truck has come together nicely… It showed up in hurting shape, ended up needing way more metal than any of us thought… Ended up needing waaay more work than I anticipated..  But now… it’s gonna be awesome forever!!!! 😎

Pat is out in the blast booth… They dug out a pedal pan for ya.. modified it for your late master and it will get painted today…. I imagine they will wipe and touch and clean on your bus till you get here…. 😎  😎

What a weekend!  Drove my ass off…literally.  I can hardly sit after driving from Dallas to KCW and back.  Made it into GJ on Saturday around 1pm.  Inside the shop, there it was, my beautifully restored DC.

Then we all piled in a fleet of buses and headed to Roosters for some kick-ass wings and few pitchers of “Colorado Kool-aid”.  On the way, I might have almost, inches away, taken out John’s recently reacquired bus.  Thank god Franz, was on the gas and I finally saw him at the last second.  Note to self, adjust those new mirrors better.

After only a few short hours, we loaded the Crew Cab on the trailer.  This was also eventful, as the drivers side ramp squirted out from under the rear tire.  Amazingly, the hub cab held the wheel and bus up.  Only the hubcap sustained a minor wound, thanks for patching it up John (and sorry for the additional work).  Here’s the bus moments before the loading SNAFU.UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2ff9

Finally, we headed out of town.  We made it to Colorado Springs on Saturday night.  I got almost no sleep as I was so excited about the rig and the hotel wasn’t in the greatest part of town, so I was stressed about thieves.

We made it back home this evening (Sunday) with one final scare.  The fuel filter has a split at the seam and was pissing fuel all over the left side of the engine.  Luckily, I noticed the growing puddle and shut it down.  It’s an easy fix, but I almost torched the new bus.  Now, the CrewCab is safely in the garage and I’m going to sleep.  Good night!

That has to be a driving record.

Strange on the fuel filter. I am glad that you seem to have good luck.
