^^^Good to know. Although, I thought most racks have an adjustment to dial in the pinion and rack gear mesh. I was made aware of this from my dad years ago. I had a used Ford Aerostar van that had a new rack installed right before I bought it. Wandered all over the road, had no center. My dad told me how to adjust the rack. Improved the steering 90 percent. Still had the very soft Ford power steering, but after that, the wife could keep it in her lane. 😉

No adjustment on these kits; they aren’t really a proper rack – they still use the centre pin and tie rods etc. I’ve also driven homebrew rack conversions but they usually alter the amount of lock to lock turns, which is disconcerting when you’re used to driving a stock bus. I’ve seen those CE kits for years….looks like a lot of extra weight and BS to accomplish the same thing.
I’ve got no issues with how a stock steering box drives. They are 3 1/2 turns lock to lock.
For whatever reason the Brazilian steering box is more like 7 turns lock to lock, makes them hard to drive. Especially at speed….which is probably part of the problem Mike was experiencing.

Franz, that would be great. I can get online and find shit with the best of them. My concern is I’d find shit and not something useable.
