That single cab is sick! Keep it up, love following along. Will you be at Bad Camberg in June? Would be cool to see you guys on your side of the pond

The bay truck is a definite keeper..I’m thinking stock wheels with mud tyres… the yellow bay; a ‘71 wasn’t my preferred choice, as I love 68 buses, but it’s a good basis for fitting 16” Syncro wheels and aggressive mud tyres. I initially thought slammed on Fuchs, but I think a slight raise would suit it well 🤔

I think the rest will find new homes, including the GTI; it’s fast and a nice driver, but it’s pretty thirsty with the DSG box and I think I’d be happy driving the SC daily once it’s reliable and has a heater. 🤔😁

I’m hoping to do EBI and Camberg; there’s usually a VW week of events in between, which I’ve never managed to do. Would be cool to meet up there 👍🏻😊

Meanwhile, I started on the Polo paint repair last week. The drivers side is awesome but someone put a load of bondo on the passenger door and fender, so I removed it all with a fibre disc.  A small hole on the fender turned into a front corner reconstruction. Luckily that’s all the rust there is on this car.

Mark, I enjoy watching your projects, and your state side shenanigans with the baja mishap.

I have a small favor to ask. I have a Honda XR650L model dual sport that I want to do a transmission modification that requires a couple gears from a Honda NX650. The gears I need are European model only. I bought a hole transmission on ebay that was supposed to be from those models, but turned out to be US spec. Second gear is the right one I need, but fifth is still US spec in teeth count. I have a part number, but they are only available in European markets. I think you might be able to find the fifth gear I need. If you can source it, I’d be happy to send you money to cover purchase, shipping, plus some extra for your effort.

Part # is 23491-MW2-780, and should have a tooth count of 20.

What this mod will allow for is being able to drop a tooth on the counter shaft sprocket, go up a few on the rear sprocket, have a tractor like 1st gear, more usable second gear, and final drive in fifth close to current stock gearing. Way better arrangement than the stock trans now with to high first gear, and a big jump to second gear. Also supposed to smooth out 1st to 2nd clunky shifting.

Let me know if you can make the time. There’s absolutely no hurry, as I want to ride out the winter riding season here in Arizona, and take the engine down sometime in the summer.  Thanks in advance.

Hey Ben, sorry I missed this. I’ll have a look around and see what I can dig up. I have to admit, I have zero experience of what you’re talking about, but if I can help I will.

    Is this it?

Quite a few listed on Google but most have no stock; these were the cheapest two I found that have stock.
