it measured 8” from top of trans to top engine deck. I think I set Audrey’s at 10” from the measurement off the subi diesel that was at KCW.. maybe I could raise Audrey’s up more 2”.. I know it was crazy low.

anyways, we’re on it!! That’s where my week is gonna be spent.

She’s all done. Guess she will be here the next day or 2. Then she’s off to a 1,000 mile ride to her summer home.

Power steering stuff wasn’t hard to deal with. Heater works upfront. Cooling fan on the radiator works. Drives awesome. I got 120 miles on it now..I’ll drive it more tomorrow. yes I put a thermostat in the system!

I sent Maddie a video earlier, she’s pumped!

SO SO SO HAPPY. She sounds so naughty. Finally the end to being car-less for 3 months. MORE TO COME. Driving 7 hours back to William’s abode in Encinitas from Andy’s shop.

Will take a look at the battery under/behind the drivers seat, that’s a secondary battery. Maybe help her out with a “rv” power switch so she can use it while camping without draining her main battery.

I’ll check it out. Maddie got here late last night and we hit up Pizza Port for a bit. She’s headed back up to LA to show her van off to the guy she’s in love with and is headed back down this way to collect her stuff tomorrow. Then off to Colorado and Wyoming!

I keep telling her she needs to hit up Audrey when she’s out there for the inaugural Subisquared Vanagon meetup.

Hi everyone!! So sorry for my lack of communication… been racking up some MILES in my sexy swagwagon. 😜

I wanna give a HUGE shout out to John, Gretchen and all of KCW for letting me crash there at the shop as I was making my way home… That place is beautiful, so happy I got to see it and I can’t wait to actually meet the people that have built it/live in it!

I had a feeling that people who work on VWs were the coolest of the cool, but unsure cause Will is kind of a douchey frat boy, ya know? But this trip and my entire experience purchasing this van confirmed that VWs bring together the BEST type of people. I’m so honored to be a part of the cult!

Here are some pics from the road:

• Getting stuck in Zion, but successfully getting her out ALL BY MYSELF… with the help of two logs left behind by the person who got stuck before me…

• My first unintentional VW “cruise” on the drive from CA to CO was with this woman who has owned 4 vanagons in her life before hand and just bought this one (that has the same set up on the inside as mine but hers is an 88!) to take her grandkids around!

•Last pic is of me trying to organize my shit with my pooch already making himself comfortable in Finch.
