Unboxing of a factory-crated NOS 36hp engine by Kieft En Klok that’s never seen the elements or the light of day.Β Sometimes there’s a bit of debate about whether the gold-ish magnesium treatment on restored engines is accurate….seems like this answers that.Β Hope they share more detailed photos.
WOW… That’s cool as it gets!!!

Hahaha! Β I had heard about you doing that. Love the video
Thanks for Breakfast, Scott!!!!
Did y’all see the video of the neighbor working on a skid steer that lost control at the top of a hill, slid backwards for 1/4 mile and hit his neighbor’s enclosed trailer that had a freshly painted bus in it? So bizarre. The couple had owned the bus for 30+ years I think and had finally saved enough to restore it. Crazy!

Found it!
Hello all! I come broken hearted and seeking recommendations for a reputable/knowledgeable VW metal and body shop in California.
My wife and I dated in high school and daily drove our 1966 and 1963 Bugs back then. We got married the year after graduation and that same year (2000) we purchased our 1963 23 Window as a project car to build together.
22 years, three kids, and a couple houses later, we are finally able to afford to restore the Bus. It went in for metal, body, and paint to begin the restoration journey and just came out of the shop a couple of months ago looking good as new!!
This past Saturday, the most unbelievable and unfortunate event occurred. A neighbor of ours who lives above and to the South of us was operating his skid steer tractor. The tractor got away from him after it unexpectedly shut off and began free wheeling down the hill. It zig zagged uncontrollably down the hill (backwards), ultimately smashing into our trailer, which (you guessed it) was housing our bus. We are located on 17 acres of primarily opened space and this tractor lost control from about a 1/4 mile up the hill. How on earth, of all places, did it manage to free roll backwards that entire way and smash directly into our beloved Bus, is beyond comprehension.
The good news is, my neighbor walked away with not a scratch, broken bone, or any significant injuries. Thatβs pretty amazing considering the speed in which he hit. The trailer and bus literally cushioned his impact.
He sure feels blessed to be alive but terrible about our Bus, but weβll get it all sorted out. Unfortunately our 22+ years of waiting to finally drive our bus, has been delayed yet again.https://www.facebook.com/groups/1622372921316601/posts/3266290750258135
