God, I miss Utah skiing! Best powder I’ve ever had the pleasure to ski in.
I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.KleakeParticipantMarch 14, 2019 at 10:06 amPost count: 567

I want to be like John Jones! 😁😁😁
For the uninitiated, those are discs in the neck between C5-C6 and C6-C7 bulging outward towards spinal cavity and left side nerve roots . Fuuuuuuu…..John JonesKeymasterMarch 15, 2019 at 9:06 amPost count: 5263
I have lower back surgery again, on April 8th.. rooter rooter job at L3 I think… cut out some vertebra that are pushing on my nerves and messing up my legs…
Good luck…PeteParticipantMarch 15, 2019 at 9:22 amPost count: 737
Steroid injections first…that worked well in 2012 for same to discs, and got 7 years of relief out of it. Doc has some concerns about the bone spurs that have started to encase the 5/6 disc (where the little magnifying glass is on the scan), thinking that might limit how much the disc can “retract” back in. If shots don’t work he said disc replacement or fusion, and he favors replacement at this point.
Good luck to you as well! Hope you can get some relief. Nerve pain sucks.CorporateKeymasterMarch 15, 2019 at 9:27 amPost count: 610
John had cervical spine fusion a few years ago, don’t remember which ones…. but it allowed him to regain feeling in his arms and upper body!
best wishes on your surgery!!!
I love going on adventures in our bus!!!KleakeParticipantMarch 15, 2019 at 2:57 pmPost count: 567
My 2 cents on fusion vs disc replacement. I had my neck fused, same 5 – 6 – 7 a few years ago. Fusion was my only choice, because I waited to long before doing anything about it. Fusion is a slippery slope, you fuse a disc and it puts more strain on the next disc. Next thing you know, more fusion. Disc replacement keeps your Motion in the spine, not increasing the strain on the next level of disc’s. So don’t wait to long. My son is a spine surgeon in Idaho falls. Dr. Robert Johnson, another way of looking at it, is old school vs new school.PeteParticipantMarch 15, 2019 at 3:29 pmPost count: 737
Thanks Gretchen! I’m lucky my right arm is not affected. Left hurts like hell.
My doc said the EXACT same thing as you, Kevin. He said there are circumstances that make fusion preferable, but in my case he said he’d recommend disc replacement….should we get that far.
For now we’re going to try steroid injectons since I’ve responded well to those twice in the past, 2008 & 2012. Fingers crossed it works again this time.
