Lookin good Rusty ! I could use some more covered space for vehicles.
I asked my neighbor (who is gone all winter) if I could put a bus in the garage. Denied !
I enjoyed watching this weekend! That guy in the Orange Car was running pretty good! Cold and kind of a head/cross wind! A lot of guys were spinning and getting loose on the big end. I hated seeing Ollie Fray park his pro stock sedan in the wall. Didn’t look like it was hurt too bad.
Have a safe productive day folks!
John…. I looked at your door panels.. remind me what you wanted done?? 😎 Doug looked at them with me… looks like the cards are different… You want new cards and old material, and holes for handles??
Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎
JJ, Good morning! Yea, I think one card is bigger than the other also, but you are correct: New cards, old material , with holes for handles and clips ready to install on my doors if possible. Thanks for the update.
I would love to be driving this thing slammed on it’s arse sometime next year. I have been trying to leave my other projects alone and focus on this one. Bucket list item , own/drive a lowered split beetle. Hope to check that one off and then put my split back stock and put the narrowed beam from it on my oval if possible.
You folks all have a safe productive day! 🙂
Don’t lower your 48…its just fine the way it is.
You think the material on those door panels is original 1948? Looks like some newer tweed to me.

I have been back and forth with lowering / not lowering it Franz. I don’t think I have ever owned a beetle I haven’t lowered. I have the 16’s and Bi-plias tires that were on it and they are like new. Two of my wheels are riveted and two aren’t.
I know the material is not OG to the car. Previous owner did it in the late 70’s , early 80’s and it never made it back on the road. The material just matches the rest in the car. If it cant be saved, and cant be matched, I will send the rear panels and have the recovered to match the door cards and look nice with the seats.
Happy Birthday to this guy! Take him out for a beer today fellas! Big 37! Tomorrow we are off to Rampage to watch one of our locals!
Yea! Happy bday Franz. Gettin it. Dickies even on the race track, killer.
Happy birthday Franz! Thanks for sharing some of your aircooled know how with me when I need it. Have a great day!
Happy Birthday Franz.
Fuck, I’ll be 40 on Friday.
