Cole, after we fix the vanagon (again), maybe we’ll have time to build the new engine. The smaller cam should be better, thinking heat risers would be good too.John JonesKeymasterDecember 29, 2018 at 2:11 pmPost count: 5132ColeBParticipantDecember 30, 2018 at 11:15 amPost count: 1179
I’d love to come put that motor together! BAJAAAA. Heat risers to make sure it’s warming up?FranzKeymasterDecember 30, 2018 at 11:41 amPost count: 2575
Helps the fuel stay vaporized better. And if we’re racing in Nov. the temperatures we be low enough to cause manifold icing.
Also with fuel sloshing out of the carb on the whoops, It’ll help clear out the over-rich mixture faster. Maybe some carb float bowl vent mods will help with this problem too.
We’ve got Blaine Beacher on tap. I’m sure he knows a little something. If you will.ColeBParticipantDecember 30, 2018 at 11:45 amPost count: 1179

BAJA!!!! That Baja shit is intense… It’s brutal…. Hard on cars, hard in wallets, hard on people…. I think to be really good at it… Your gonna have to devote life to it…. and have a really really solid team of people… That are also just as devoted to it….I am not as devoted to it as I think a racer should be… And to do it “right” requires a lot of time off work… a lot of time in mexico… 😎 I guess you gotta have the dream of winning or the desire to win I reckon… to devote the resources that it requires to participate at a competitive level… 😎FranzKeymasterJanuary 22, 2019 at 8:32 amPost count: 2575
I’m ready to work on race cars.
Trying to get these resto projects and parkway junk out of my way.
Going to order up that 5500 UTV winch later this week so that we can start fab on the new skid plates.emileeParticipantJanuary 23, 2019 at 9:22 amPost count: 47

I spent some time playing with the race car this weekend. Installed the Odyssey pc925 battery, removed the skid plates, and started fitting the winch. It fits perfectly in front of the gas tank. Next project is to build new skid plates. The front needs a better approach angle, the rear need to be easier to install and remove, while being strong enough to pull on.
Thinking of using a 1 1/4″ reciever hitch on the winch so that it can be taken out and moved to the rear if needed.
