We learned a lot in the 500. Looking forward to putting it to use for this monster of a race the 1000 is going to be.

I was looking at the 2017 Baja 1000 for when they opened pre run. The race was on nov. 15th and pre run was opened oct. 20th . That gives us 4 weekends before the race to pre run. I assume we’ll spend the last weekend prepping and traveling for the race.
The new transaxle should be done any day. Engine is in the works.

Few things that I have been thinking about.
– bigger battery
– bigger alternator, more charging power
– led amber and blue lights to replace H3 lights at rear
– more driving lights mounted clean and close to bumper mounts
– course note codriver dash light
– move/angle lowrance navigation to the driver.
– hard wire oil cooler fan on.
– move helmet fresh air supply away from oil cooler (maybe get a unit that moves more air too)
– move/straiten antennae mounting
– stronger radio?
– front skid plate upper beam/bumper bracket reinforcement.
– more angle on the front skid plate (smash apron up as far as possible)

The first part looks the same.
At mile 120 it dips off and connects to Mike’s road, is the only major difference I see until mile 180.

We’re not ready for the baja 1000 on November 14th. Its a massive amount of terrain to cover that we are not familiar with. Knowing that we are a new/green team its going to take a few runs to get everything ironed out and working together smoothly. The 1000 is one of the hardest races in the world (48-60 hours racing, two all-nighters), we think its better to conquer the shorter SCORE baja races first. For this reason we have decided not to enter the baja 1000 this year.
The plan is to hit 2019 hard. Go for more of a series/points race. This will give us more time and practice before getting involved in the 1000

San Felipe 250 April 3
The Baja 500 May 29-June 2
Lucerna Baja 400, September 18-22.
