Not so glorious work. Pat is killing it. This car was rattled apart. Right now we are trying to figure out anything that is going to need mounted so that we can push this car into paint.

We have been talking/thinking about every aspect. Here are a few of them:

    -lighting department:

    • light bar in the top of the windshield opening
    • door mirror/light combo
    • stock headlights w/ h4 or better bulbs
    • Stock tail lights w/ blackout switch to hide braking points from following drivers
    • blue/amber accessory lights in the top of the rear widow opening per score rules

    passenger compartment:

    • dash grab handle
    • roof grab handle.
    • lowrance navigation
    • stella 3 race unit
    • satellite texter?
    • anything else the co-driver may need?

New light weight battery and mount.

    fuel cell fab and fit

We need co come up with a definitive in-car spare parts and tool list. Plus, water and safety items that we are required to carry. Then make mounts and storage for all of it.

what’re you thinking for the light bar? A led strip or 4 big round lights?

Also, the satellite texter wouldn’t need to be mounted I think. Just in the vehicle to text the chase car in case we need anything

We’re going to make lower and upper panels for the windshield so that its more of a slot to look out of. No glass.

The light bar will have a slip tube welded to the a-pilar tube that allows a quick install/removal. I’m thinking more slim-line across the top of the windshield, try to keep the body clean. But we could build anything to go into the slip tube receiver joint. 4 rounds would look badass too.

Racing all night. We start the race Saturday afternoon and return Sunday afternoon.

I think we can make due with one navigation unit. When it comes time to pre-run we should maybe split into two teams to concentrate on first half and second half? We would have to spend minimum of two day pre-running so that each team has a chance to use and become familiar with the navigation.

That all sounds good. I think 4 round lights would be cool. But I understand that maybe a LED would be better… Whatever is gonna help us win. Hopefully we can get some side by sides to use for pre running… Might know someone that’ll “sponsor” us with those. Ill ask.

Maybe the 7th and 8th? There is that camp out next weekend and then I could come out.

Yeah that’ll probably work. I’ll check with Blaine Beecher to see if he’ll be around.

The 4 lights are probably a better choice from a failure stand point because of the multiple units. If something rattles loose on a light bar the whole thing is completely dead.

I went down to Morris Bro’s today here is Salt Lake to Pick up a car for my dad and Jack started showing me a couple of the things he does for his race motors. He said he can get 60hp out of a 40hp case. Everything he showed me was shaved down or balanced. Pretty cool stuff. B0EF8C4A-0F8C-40D0-A96C-656C27C81CB2

This is getting a good abrasive cleaning this week…. clean it up, clean it out, get rid of any and all extra materials! 😎

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

We’ve been talking/reading everyday. The latest thing has been fuel capacity. Rules say stock tank or fuel cell. If we go fuel cell we can carry more fuel. Which is more weight, but less stops.

We estimate the we’l be racing for 24 hours with 3 driver/co-driver teams. Thats a team change every 8 hours or 165 miles. I think it would be ideal to re-fuel every 4 hours or 83 miles.  We’ll probably be ready for a break by then anyways. The question is will a stock 10.6 gallon tank be enough.

Watching last year’s videos, It looks like about half/half stock tank vs. fuel cell.

Fuel cell in the back offers better suspension characteristics….but I’m not about having that much fuel behind our seats. It would also kill a lot of easy access room for spares and tools.

In car fuel cell also has to have a fire wall installed around it = more weight.

How about a stock tank, and a smaller header tank opposite of the battery well. Is that within the rules. It would give you some extra capacity, keep the weight low, and still have top side access.

I'm at the age where "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions.
