Stripping all the old paint and filler = weight reduction.Pat KKeymasterMarch 16, 2018 at 5:27 pmPost count: 1127
Exterior stripped. There were at least 6 layers of material on this car.
Exterior stripped. Started welding/patching holes in the trunk/front fire wall area.

Damn! Lots of material. I’ll go on a diet before the race to make sure we are as light as possible! HahaPat KKeymasterMarch 20, 2018 at 7:13 amPost count: 1127
I was all around the front end of this yesterday. Bit of rust repair, patching up extra holes, bumping panels. Few more places to metal work the shell then time for some blasting.

I’m starting to get nervous. This is actually happening.
I have almost everything to build engines. My schedule is more flexible than yours. We could build just the long blocks in two days. Then finish tin/carb/exhaust ect some other time and run? Maybe even this week? You’re probably on spring break or something?Pat KKeymasterMarch 20, 2018 at 12:51 pmPost count: 1127
Just found some bling in the front quarter. Pretty sure driver must wear for all legs of the race.

Repaired drivers side lower hinge area. Had to cut it open pull out the nut plate to drill out a broken screw, lower 4″ need rust repair also.
Patched around rollcage. Trying to keep dirt from coming in everywhere we can from the front. Small section of rust repair in pass lowers fender well, also getting rid of the stock gas hole.
Outer front fire wall had separated from the inner along the lower lip. Portapowered it pack into place and hammerd several big’ol stitch welds to hold it. Blasting tomorrow.

Not so glorious work. Pat is killing it. This car was rattled apart. Right now we are trying to figure out anything that is going to need mounted so that we can push this car into paint.
We have been talking/thinking about every aspect. Here are a few of them:
- light bar in the top of the windshield opening
- door mirror/light combo
- stock headlights w/ h4 or better bulbs
- Stock tail lights w/ blackout switch to hide braking points from following drivers
- blue/amber accessory lights in the top of the rear widow opening per score rules
- dash grab handle
- roof grab handle.
- lowrance navigation
- stella 3 race unit
- satellite texter?
- anything else the co-driver may need?
New light weight battery and mount.
fuel cell fab and fit
We need co come up with a definitive in-car spare parts and tool list. Plus, water and safety items that we are required to carry. Then make mounts and storage for all of it.ColeBModeratorMarch 21, 2018 at 9:46 amPost count: 1338
what’re you thinking for the light bar? A led strip or 4 big round lights?
Also, the satellite texter wouldn’t need to be mounted I think. Just in the vehicle to text the chase car in case we need anythingFranzKeymasterMarch 21, 2018 at 9:53 amPost count: 2976
We’re going to make lower and upper panels for the windshield so that its more of a slot to look out of. No glass.
The light bar will have a slip tube welded to the a-pilar tube that allows a quick install/removal. I’m thinking more slim-line across the top of the windshield, try to keep the body clean. But we could build anything to go into the slip tube receiver joint. 4 rounds would look badass too.FranzKeymasterMarch 21, 2018 at 10:24 amPost count: 2976
Racing all night. We start the race Saturday afternoon and return Sunday afternoon.
I think we can make due with one navigation unit. When it comes time to pre-run we should maybe split into two teams to concentrate on first half and second half? We would have to spend minimum of two day pre-running so that each team has a chance to use and become familiar with the navigation.
