Would you like this switch installed?

Another question on knobs, I believe ivory is correct. But which style? Would early kg be the same as beetle?

The darker ivory kg knobs May be reproduction?

These are the correct knobs Franz. I have a knob set at home just like this one, but aluminum.  If you think we have to paint the aluminum ones, then the color I like best out of all the ones I see in the pictures is the one on the shifter knob.  Maybe we could try to match that color,… what do you think?

Franz, I mean the Original Karmann Ghia shift knob (the KG in the Treffen Car show has the original shift knob),  not the bug knob. 👍

Sounds good. I will paint them Ivory to match OG vw.

How about the reverse light switch. Would you like it installed?

For what it’s worth these knobs are stone grey, not ivory.  I think the stone grey is correct for dolphin blue ghia’s but not 100% sure.

Plot twist – there are two original interior Dolphin Blue Ghia’s on the page at the link below.  This first one looks like it has Stone Grey steering wheel, indicator cover and column, and Stone Grey e-brake handle, and all Ivory knobs and window/door escutcheons.

The 2nd one looks to have Stone Grey steering, indicator cover and column, Stone Grey door escutcheons, and only Ivory for the dash knobs.

Who knows what’s actually “correct” for these cars….the knobs may not have been consistent when produced at all, so you might be fine just doing what you prefer.

So we strayed from stock to go with 55-57 color scheme. Is this a reliable source?

According to The Samba Dolphin/Trout Blue was offered up until July 1959, through chassis number 2 528 667.  I would think it’s a correct color for Juan’s car.  I can’t speak to the other details.  When researching my own (Bamboo/Dark Green) I’ve seen both ivory and stone grey knobs/escutcheons.

Sorry for the confusion – I was just pointing out on the Treffen car that the knobs, column and turn signal appeared to be stone grey, while the steering wheel looks ivory (as does the heater control and shifter knob).

I sometimes think it varied from car to car, depending with what was on hand.  I’m not sure
