Fully installed mats. Very nice.
The black mats clipped into the stock lugs perfectly. They are not glued down so they look a little wavy from packaging, I expect that to go away.FranzKeymasterFebruary 18, 2020 at 9:37 amPost count: 3539
Sperewolf locking shifter, door check straps, and og knobs polished.JbParticipantFebruary 18, 2020 at 10:58 amPost count: 624

Installed the new rear seat trim, door top, trim, trunk liner, jack, and spare tire.
Juan, would you like the hubcap VW emblems painted black?Juan 59 DDWTParticipantFebruary 19, 2020 at 8:19 amPost count: 297
Good Job Franz, details & details 👍👏👏👏
About the hubcap, don’t paint them, thanks for ask, but I prefer full chrome without VW emblems black. 😎FranzKeymasterFebruary 20, 2020 at 6:50 amPost count: 3539
I’ve been trying to get the KG door from greyhound freight…But they have weird hours, and not even open when they say they should be. I think Greyhound is about to go out of bussiness….serious… It looks like they’ve already started moving assets out of the building. No chairs or anything.
*BEWARE* Anyone planning to use greyhound freight. I would find a different way….. Fastenal has a similar service.
The story I got last night is that they had the door, but accidentally sent it to Denver. Its supposed to be on its way back to Grand Junction.
I spent yesterday working on the rear seat area. Glued in blue vinyl and mounted seat with correct scews.
After we get the glass from Greyhound, the last piece we are missing is the passenger door pull. I know Juan was trying to find the correct strap and chrome trim. We also have this covered wood version (earlier kg) that I could install.FranzKeymasterFebruary 21, 2020 at 8:40 amPost count: 3539
Greyhound called last night at 9pm. The open at noon today. I will get the door and install the glass later today.
Carpet tacks like original.FranzKeymasterFebruary 21, 2020 at 1:05 pmPost count: 3539
Door looks good. Glass looks good one minor scratch and one tiny pit. Correct logo.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantFebruary 21, 2020 at 2:41 pmPost count: 297
Excelent 👍👍 it`s a really Good News,… with it we only need the chromes for the inside pull handle door.
Thanks Franz,.. 👍👍FranzKeymasterFebruary 21, 2020 at 8:32 pmPost count: 3539
The window is in, and looks great, I had to change the regulator and related parts to fit the different shape glass. The replacement glass was 58 type.RustabusParticipantFebruary 21, 2020 at 9:21 pmPost count: 1935
Had to zoom in on the pic cuz I couldn’t tell if the glass was up!!! Awesome!!!!!!!FranzKeymasterFebruary 22, 2020 at 7:30 pmPost count: 3539
Juan do you have a picture of the backside of the door pull chromies? Do they screw on from the back of the door panel? I will wait to install the driver door panel until you bring the chrome.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantFebruary 22, 2020 at 8:45 pmPost count: 297
Yes Franz, I think they screw on from the back side, I agree to wait to install the driver door panel until we have them.
The passenger door panel looks amazing,… 👍🤙👏👏👏👏Scott SainParticipantFebruary 23, 2020 at 10:21 amPost count: 265
I had to look back and see the first date of this thread. Has it only been there since July of 2018?alykatParticipantFebruary 23, 2020 at 2:01 pmPost count: 466
Yup, and most of the project has been long time finished it seems. Waiting on certain hard to get parts looks to be what stretched it out this long I think.FranzKeymasterFebruary 23, 2020 at 2:56 pmPost count: 3539
It’s been painted for about a year. Looks like the chassis was assembled last spring. I broke my ankle, took it easy for a while, then with JJ’s help we had the car assembled/driving mid summer.
We’ve been holding since then to get the rubber floor mats and finish the interior.
It’s complete and beautiful now. I am excited to put a few miles on it next week.👍C.HamburgParticipantFebruary 23, 2020 at 5:38 pmPost count: 183
