I like them all. 36hp are a beautiful engine.
I spent the rest of the day getting the chassis ready for body union.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantJuly 17, 2019 at 9:06 pmPost count: 292
very productive Day, Great Day KCW 👍👏👏👏,.. I think this dream is going to come true very soon 😎
Franz, have you had an opportunity to install the shift lock?FranzKeymasterJuly 18, 2019 at 12:46 pmPost count: 3089
Running the engine this morning, I found a couple problems. The paper gasket under the generator was leaking or off center. I had to lift the fan shroud and glue it in place.
Then I noticed a fuel leak from one of the banjo solder joints. I’m going to try silver soldering it. We may have to make a new line if it doesn’t take.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantJuly 18, 2019 at 1:51 pmPost count: 292
Thanks Franz, I hope you can fix it 👍👍👍BBWBParticipantJuly 18, 2019 at 4:45 pmPost count: 737
That glass bowl fuel filter is the ‘coolest’ piece!

Yeah it is.
Fixed, but I damaged the copper plating with heat. The end is just polished steel now.FranzKeymasterJuly 18, 2019 at 6:50 pmPost count: 3089
Brakes fully assembled, adjusted and bleed. Heater control and new cable installed. Pedals finished and adjusted, new Bowden tubes, new throw out bearing and super clips.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantJuly 19, 2019 at 7:53 amPost count: 292

We usually leave the break in oil in for 500 miles. You drain it immediately?FranzKeymasterJuly 19, 2019 at 11:17 amPost count: 3089
As soon as I turn the engine off. 10-15 minutes of run time.
The idea is to flush out trash before it settles to the bottom of the case. Metal from lifter/cam and piston ring wear.
I can tell you the oil drain pan looks shiny like a pearl paint job in the sun. Super fine pieces in suspension.alykatParticipantJuly 19, 2019 at 12:59 pmPost count: 385

Did the same in the little VW shop where I worked in Georgia. Then refilled with oil after it cooled, reset the valves, and took it on a preset 50 mile drive if it was going in a car at the shop. Drained and checked again immediately, refilled again and another 50 mile test loop before turning over to the customer. On build only engines we still ran and replaced the oil twice on the test stand before handing them over.FranzKeymasterJuly 19, 2019 at 8:03 pmPost count: 3089
Everything on the pan is done. Ready for the body to be bolted on. Pan seal installed with tacks.
The sperwolf locking shifter is test fit and ready for paint.Juan 59 DDWTParticipantJuly 19, 2019 at 8:40 pmPost count: 292
