I think I will start working on the pan…  The beetle will probably get painted first… 😎   This rig is so nice and aligned… I REALLY don’t want to take the doors or lids off…. 8-(   I kinda want to paint it all together too….. 😎 hummmm   But I thin it is much harder to do a good job in the jambs and trunk and engine bay etc with lids in your way…..    I guess I could “Pin” em…

Pan is in blast booth now… about to be blasted… 1st thing on his list today!!!   Next priority on my list!  You can see only one side was bad…  and it wi;l be more work than your average pan 1/2 change.. cause we have to cut part of it out and graft in an original style section up by the pedals to match the eary style pan pressings…   I reckon we should open up the pan and reinforce the clutch tube… It’s pretty easy now, pretty much a pain in the ass later… 😎

So I need to drill the hole for the antenna… I actually did drill one Friday before poly, comparing the picture and an original outside, and keeping it behind the inner fender closing panel, and out of the way of the mirror and going off the size of the old hole and some originals outside..  That was dumb of me…..  Right as I am about to prime.. I think… we should get Juan’s antenna out and put it on real quick…. well… Thats when I noticed I had drilled it way to high up on the fender to be level and shoot out straight up, not at an angle, especially towards the center of the car….   so… I wanted to show you were I plan to put it… I will use a level of course.. but you can see it will be farther down the fender than that picture..   If it was close to the A pillar, we could angle it.. like a later bug…   but not so much out there and remember the antenna has about 8″ or so that sticks below the body… and it has to be behind the inner fender closing panel… so only so much angle in the dangle… anyway…

Thanks John… We do what we can… 😎  It’s all we do… 😎  Help as get Volkswagens back on the road!!!!! 😎

So… You may think we have not spent a second thinking about this project the last week.. while we have been getting Galina’s car all painted and all the parts… and pan and it’s parts..   Trying to make a model kit for Franz.. 😎  But in reality…. I have been thinking about it.. cause after we set that after market pan on Juans tunnel…. and saw just how different they were, original low light pans, and what is available…  Lots of differences..  And no one has ever asked me to pay attention to that…. Usually both sides are so rusty… you aren’t trying to save anything….. Well here…  Juan asked it look like stock….   So I had chris help me move some stuff around, dug out another low light, with the nicest pan… and we pulled the body and tore the pan down so we could REMOVE the original pan half for Juan…. and now…   He is front and center in the dirty again…… 😎  With original pan’s… With some minor repairs…. 😎

Thanks Juan…. Well see if we can get this pan moved forward today!!!  😎   The outsides of the body are dialed.. ready to sand for paint… but I need to move into the jambs, trunk, engine bay… all that shit!!!  No fun to sand shit.. 😎    But I think I will cool my jets on painting another car right now… Clean shop is a little backed up already…. 😎
