Juan and his 1959 Ghia just showed up. Looks pretty solid from what I can tell. Tear down has already started!

Ha…..that’s what we first said about Juan’s split.      Best off blasting that quickly to check out the bones……….I love Juan’s builds…..he doesn’t screw around.  Top shelf all the way usually.

Stopped in for a short while earlier today and watched the crew at work on this tear down. Looked like ants at a picnic ! Car looks to be pretty good condition from what was visible.

ONE stop shop….. Torn down, body off by noon.. and blasted for a few hours to show Juan the bad spots before he left to head back home to mexico.. yeah, I have my own blast booth, and paint booth.. and yeah, all legal and inspected yearly by the fire and city!!! LEGIT!!!  No back yard shit here.

There are not many shops where you can do it ALL from ONE address  801 Kimball Ave…  ALL DAY EVERYDAY! 😎

Been a wild ride, but it got me here 😎

After driving many hours I am at home tired but happy.

I would like to thank the KCW team for a great job yesterday, for me it was very important to know the general condition of the metal after the blasting process, and yes, I totally agree with John that there are not many places where you can get it done in one day.

Congratulations KCW, you made my trip back home a very happy trip.

About the KG, I bought it in San Diego some years ago, it’s all matching numbers, it was produced in July 1959.  My plan with the KG is to get a Bone stock restoration, trout blue color. And by the way, does anyone have a piece of metal, a sample of paint or something that is the original trout blue color?, it would help a lot for the paint process.

Light update since the website has been down… Pat K has been kicking ass on this project.

Since Chris got it fully blasted and Pat has been fabbing up all the little sheet metal pieces that can’t be bought! I’ll let him go into more detail but once we figure out how to streamline photo updates I’ll post some!

Juan….if you’re going completely stock and want the original style rubber mats (assuming you don’t have them)  for the interior instead of a carpet kit there’s a guy in NJ in the process of reproducing them in the original colors (Trout Blue would be grey).  Here’s the site where he’s selling them:

Samba thread detailing his efforts and photos of the prototypes:

Thanks Pete for the information👍, I’ll order the interior rubber mats set in gray color ASAP.

Pat, JJ emailed me some pics of your job and I could see some areas you are working on (very clean job 👍), I hope you could update me soon.

Fair warning, Juan….the mats are new and in the development stage.  The guy producing them seems to be doing a great job so far, but he’s not delivered the first set yet.  A few weeks ago he finalized the bulkhead mat, which was the most complex to recreate, so the first ones should be getting made and delivered in the coming weeks and you can have a set by the time you need them for your build.  For the sake of the accuracy of your resto hopefully these come through, but you may want to plan on something like a Newton Commerical carpet kit as a backup (and hope you never have to place that order).
