Alright I am going crazy. I am a traveler. I like going places buying junk and I am stuck in my house. All I want to do is work on my bus or go campin. Nobody wants to by the Bay winder or trade for a oval bug in good shape. or a split bug huh Rusty. I have no space for 2 buses.FranzKeymasterApril 3, 2020 at 8:30 amPost count: 3532
I have you covered on the junk! Trade you a 64 beetle, 57 tempo matador, and 50 ford coupe for the baywindow??
Are you going to put the engine in the 58 bus?John JonesKeymasterApril 3, 2020 at 9:15 amPost count: 6545
I bet your getting bored without a garage to work in…. 😎 😎 😎
I’m locking the doors on the compound after today… No new visitors till this shelter in place stuff is over… Just to minimize the exposure to us and our work and living environment!! It’s the BEST thing for everyone! 😎68tintopParticipantApril 3, 2020 at 9:35 amPost count: 722
U guys can put it in if u want to that would be great. Make sure it shifts good all. Fix that reserve cable and heater crap before the motor goes in might be easier. If u guys got time sweet if not I do it after the lockdown. Thanks a lot to Kcw for helping me build my dream bus. 😬🤪😜FranzKeymasterApril 3, 2020 at 9:52 amPost count: 3532
We have plenty going on right now. It’ll be a couple weeks until we get around to it.
I always have hope that you’re going to get self-sufficient at working on VWs….maybe take it home and spend your extra time figuring it out?John JonesKeymasterApril 5, 2020 at 1:20 pmPost count: 6545
You also have a drivers side rear axle leak….. 😎 😎
Hope all is well… I bet it is crazy up there where you live… stay safe… stay healthy!FranzKeymasterApril 11, 2020 at 10:10 amPost count: 3532
I found that early mirror that you have been jonesn’ for.Pat KKeymasterApril 13, 2020 at 9:46 amPost count: 1354
I played with your junk last night Jesse..LoL
Added some metal mesh to your heater box flex tubes for better flow.
One of the mounts on your regulator was broken. Franz tig welded it back together this morning.
Installed a new reserve fuel cable, engine and the new heater flex tubes. Regulator back on, hooked up fuel and electric, and adjusted the clutch. Franz got your apron painted somewhere along the way.
Looks like the rear axle leak is coming from the weep hole on the backing plate which means the axle seal is allowing fluid past. I’ll get that taken care of.
Anything else your wanting done on this badass DDP!!!!?
We will build it if it comes.Pat KKeymasterApril 14, 2020 at 8:55 amPost count: 1354
Found the issue. I bunged up the seal when I installed it the first time. DOH!!
All back together. Also adjusted you rear shoes and the e-brake.

Thanks pat for fixing that seal and adjusting e- brake. My wiper motor sucks. U have to spin the armatur by hand to get them to work. A refurbished motor that works would be sweet. The only other thing that was weird is that when u swivel around in the front seat 2 many times it turns the nut on the button side so it unthreads its self and becomes loose. Not sure if u can put a weld somewhere so it does get loosen up with a few spins of the swivel seat. 4 bolts that mount the base takes the seat out and u can tighten up and weld. Thank you guys for fixing my shitt😜😬🤪alykatParticipantApril 15, 2020 at 7:21 amPost count: 463

Maybe just safety wire it ?Pat KKeymasterApril 17, 2020 at 9:09 amPost count: 1354
Franz pulled a 12v Volvo wiper motor out of the stash for you.
I opened it up, bench tested it, and got it installed. I’ll look at you swivel seat tonight.
We will build it if it comes.68tintopParticipantApril 17, 2020 at 8:35 pmPost count: 722
Thanks pat. Wipers are going to be a necessity in my neck of the woods. If u could take a look at the seat that would be awesome. I also liked that piece of rubber over the back hatch insulation. Under the back bed cushion. If u got time. Just gotta find a ride down to pick up my shitt 😜🤪Pat KKeymasterApril 18, 2020 at 10:31 amPost count: 1354
Drilled a couple of holes in a chunk of steel and bolted it down over the pivot bolt on your swivel seat so it can’t back out now.
Set alignment, and adjusted drag link so your steering wheel is straight.
Noticed your steering dampener mount was about to snap off. Welded that back solid and shot a touch of rattle can for rust prevention. Pedal pan back on.
Hardware store was out of the rubber mat for the rear parcel tray. I’ll get some ordered.
Franz and I both took it for test drive. You are set to go Jessie!!!

Ready for another road trip!!!!68tintopParticipantApril 18, 2020 at 5:39 pmPost count: 722
Thanks pat for the weld up. Looking good. Hopefully that fix will fix the swivel. I was wondering if the bolt on the top side will still come loose. Hopefully next week I be able to pick up my bus. Any body want to buy my bay winder. Hopefully I can sell it in the months to come. Maybe I post it on scamba the barndoor of a Bay windows is for sale. Any bidders. 😬😜🤪FranzKeymasterApril 19, 2020 at 9:15 amPost count: 3532
